The point of this exercise isn't to land you a GF (or wife). It's to get you interacting with members of the opposite sex for reasons other than schoolwork.

That is a good idea.

I am just not sure how much time I want to put into this. I usually have an mission+objective oriented mindset so when it is not clear what, where, or when that objective might be found it is hard for me.

As Rick would say you hit that one for the fences.

You have to be her friend first. it may never develope into anything or it could be the one you have been looking for all along.

I was friends with my wife for two years, took her to her prom in HS, stated really dating a month later. We are passing 23 years married this year.

GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND START TALKING!!!!!!

That is hard for me since I really don't interact with my male friends much outside of class/after class- well except for the FSAE stuff. Going to races or group drives are the only places I really just chat

They could just be friends... There are lots of girls on campus that I talk to on occasion, they are friends. Nothing more, and none of us would even consider crossing that line....

Yeah, I hope so. But still when I ask her about her weekend or something the conversation never really takes off.

There may be a lot of girls around on campus but it is not like I am going to walk up to some random girl between classes and ask her out. I've realized that during/between classes is not really the time. I need to find them when they are out of class.

There are only very few I am around a lot- in my engineering classes- and of those, there are not really many that I am attracted to.
For me, its rare for me to meet a girl I might even think I like. Because of that, if I do meet a girl I might like, I won't let myself have regrets about not saying anything. I was at an event last October, an acquaintance had a friend with a question, he didn't know the answer, pointed my way, and said ask him, he knows everything. Didn't take me 30 seconds to realize I might like this girl. I asked if I'd see her around again, I was bummed when she said she was going to be busy with school, she wasn't from the USA, and was going back to her country after school! >_<

Never hurts to ask, and I'd kickmyself if I didn't I felt bummed though that she was leaving the country.

Oh, then she said she was coming back next year...I got her contact info. When she got back into town this year, we went racing, and have been out to the track a bit. Highly independent girl, I sometimes feel like I'm getting no where, but I ain't givin' up.

But anyway, if you don't say something, you'll never know. I naturally avoid girls with heavy cosmetics, and in my area, that seemingly describes about 95% of females in my age range.

I have a friend that met his wife while playing counterstrike, they lived like three states away, but drove to meet eachother in RL, and well, hit it off well. They've been married three years now.

I have another friend who saw a girl he might like in traffic, soooo, he hit her car...got her number, they where married about a year later.

make up your mind. there are like 50 pages of this thread in which people have given you advice. put your big boy pants on and go for it. you study, right? go to the library a few nights a week to do it, instead of home. A) it gets you out of your house. B) you're 100% more likely to run into a girl there, then at home C) it doesn't require extra time that you're putting into this. you're already there.

spend less time trying to explain to us why this isn't easy for you...and more time going out and doing something about it.

im not trying to be a jerk, but i think it's frustrating for us (collectively on this thread) who spend time to give you advice, helping you out.

Alright. My friend is in the class and then there are two girls I have no interest in. I guess I will have to pick one of them. I'd rather try to find something to do at the library and hope to meet someone more attractive. Thing is I don't have much homework that doesn't require my laptop. And it is a drag to bring my charger and laptop there and get an outlet.

I generally do not study beyond doing the homework. I make equation sheets for tests and I could do that there but the composite equations are such that I need to type them to be compact and readable.

I will have to cram for a thermo test some time in the coming weeks. I guess that will be the impetus to head down there.

Well that is an interesting tactic but I rather prefer talk to denting metal.

All two?

I already talk to my friend, and I have talked to the blonde (who is only going to be here next fall and then graduating).

Or the one in my thermo class that I think is a year or so 'behind' me? That is about it for girls in engineering classes. The other option is the huge music class lecture. I think I actually have a better chance there.

Max, its a big campus, don't limit yourself to three!!!

And are you seriously whining about having to carry your laptop, charger, and books? Put it all in a backpack, takes less than a minute....

I will see about finding something constructive to do at the library for Wednesday afternoon. If it is not raining too hard. Well, I guess I can just walk actually. Tomorrow I am booked in the morning and afternoon.
