Went to 928 Owner's Club International Convention in Wichita Kansas this weekend. Got 3rd Place in the Concours.

Maybe would have gotten 2nd if I took the junk out of my car, or first if I had vacuumed out the interior and cleaned the windows.

50 cars and 108 owners. There were 2 superchargers installed tuned and driven home, detailing clinics, home alignment clinics, tuning clinics, various install demonstrations, etc. Lots of people got stuff fixed. One guy was building a carbon fiber intake, another was designing his own rear wing, another had put together a better crankcase vent system, and one guy is forming abs parts like fender liners and under hood covers and air management pieces.

Also a very fun group. The open bar at the event with several help yourself bottomless ice chests and bars. Most of the wives were doing tequila shots all weekend.

After a great steak dinner there was a big automobile car show in Wichita Saturday night with a crazy burn out competition.

There was stuff going on from 7am to 2am Friday and Saturday ending Sunday morning with breakfast at a group of garage condos in Wichita.

Everyone got some kind of door prize with the biggest one a set of any kind of Pirelli tires mounted. I got some new hood struts.

I must be getting old. I didn't meet up and caravan with the group from Dallas. They were traveling a triple digit speeds. I just set my cruise on 80 and made the 150 miles a relaxing 2 hour drive.

Good morning folks. I am back at work. Gotta earn some money to pay for the vacation.

Overall I am very impressed with the UTAH roads. Nice and smooth, very wide and well maintained. I wish Oklahoma could emulate those roads.

As I was driving for what seemed endless miles I thought that every politician that pushes for lower speed limits should be forced to drive from Denver, CO. to Kansas City, MO at 55 MPH. Put a GPS in each car that sets off a loud siren if they go over 55 MPH.

The speed limit is mostly 75 but 95 would be better on a LOT of it. There are LONG stretches of arrow straight roads with no hills except overpasses for the other roads. Sometimes you can drive for miles and not be close to any other vehicle.

The only problem with 95 MPH speed limits are the morons with some POS vehicle with bald tires and no maintenance of the suspension and brakes. Maybe set up a system where the driver and the car are certified as a safe driver & vehicle. It will never happen but I can dream!

The box alone is 1,000 lbs, sans tools, I figure that is over 3,000 lbs sitting in the bed right now.

That looks like an expensive load. How do you load and unload it, with a forklift?

If I drop it here I will call a friend with a rollback and we'll wench it off Peggy onto his truck then drop it in the garage.
That may happen, I think I might just be done with turning wrenches. We'll see

No just working in an industry that isn't so brutal to my body. The auto industry was good to me for a long time but the last ten years it has turned into a bitter woman, and the concrete has won, my body is about at the end of the line with it.

The thing that really hurts, is I have no tool bill, I own all of my tools and if I had the money in cash right now that I have spent in the last 20+ years I would be totally debt free.
Thats well over 100k sitting there
