I made it through surgery. 2 hours after they wheeled me into the room I was up and walked to the bathroom. This hospital is only 10 months old. Everything is greasy and new. There are only 4 patients on this wing. I have been surprised how cute the nurses are. I am on a dial a smile pain med machine. It is hard to stay awake.

Good news from the gimpster.
Does the dial go to 11 on the pain med machine?

Here is the view from my room.

There is a 6 ft couch under the table big enough for a family member to sleep on. There is a 28 or 30 flat panel tv. Nothing but basic cable service.

I have been upright 3 times so far. I am sleepy from he drugs so I mostly sleep between the interruptions.

The hipster will be ready to go home a few days.

what can you pull on the incentive spirometer (that plastic R2D2 looking thing)? as much as patients hate the IS, and as much as it is a simplistic piece of equipment, it really really works.

keep it up, glen.

I suck a 3000. . I never thought I would type that phrase. I can suck more but the nurse said to do that 7 times in a row every couple of hours. Thanks for the well wishes.

3000 is pretty darn good. especially considering that you are a few minutes over 40 years old. really, that is pretty good.

if i were your respiratory therapist, which i am not, i'd push for 10 times every hour, plus whenever you think of doing it.

cheers!

Wow 10 times every hour. If a pro thinks that is a good idea I will do it. I guess I the old phrase if some is good more is better. Since I am just sucking air I will no overdose! I am addicted to air already.

it would be fairly difficult to hurt yourself with an IS.

well, i suppose you could beat yourself over the head with it. that said, using it as prescribed, it would be difficult to overdo the exercise.
