Vas I have to agree. Stay with a 4 speed. 15 grand is just crazy money to spend on the car.

Thanks, now I just have to decide between a V1 and a 9500ix......the XJ is way too quiet and smooth at speed to not have a very good detector on board.

Vas, how long will the 930 be down?
Back when I had my Ducati, it had 2,3,4,and5 cut down......good lord that things would accelerate!

I prefer the V1, cheaper, and you really will like the arrows.

I was just checking out the 9500ix.....most reviews prefer it over the V1, fewer false alerts, GPS based alerts, software and maps are upgradeable at home.....On the Escort site, they offer a free payment plan with an initial payment of $180 for the 9500ix with 3 years of the subscription service and an extended warranty.....also, the 9500ix can be connected to an android phone and use the phone as a second display. Some pretty neat features....

I will drop it off on the 5th.
Should take about a week.

That's not bad. At least you won't be separated from your toy for long.
I'm really leaning towards the 9500ix...

Whats the range on the escort? My V1 has popped more than 2 miles out... Consistently. To me that is more useful than the GPS crap. The V1 can be programmed to get rid of the unlikely to be a threat bands, and I get very few false pops, as in almost never.

From the reviews I've read, the range on the 9500ix is just as good as the V1.
the downsides are that it's more expensive, doesn't have the two mounts and multiple power source option, etc...

I have my V1 on a hardwire in the 944 and the corolla. no coiled cord to deal with, and no plug taken up. Comes on when I start the car, shuts off when I shut the car off. Don't even think about it unless I am parking the car somewhere I'm worried about it being stolen....

I can't wait to get rid of this stupid rental car.....Aside from needing body work, it now needs brakes, shocks and is 1500 miles past needing an oil change.......It creaks, groans, squeals and surges at idle...

Problem I see with the K40 and the 9500 is no rear coverage. That has saved me a time or two.

And it may or may not faintly smell of cigar smoke......which, IMO is far better than the smell of unwashed hoodlum and pot that it had when I got it...

That is the one thing that keeps me thinking about a V1......of course, if I can get a K40 thrown in really cheap, it makes the decision easier.
