joe, you crack me up.

I like how Macs look, but I need to run Solidworks. I do have several engineer friends who do the dual-boot thing, but I prefer to just follow the herd and use windows. I guess I could adapt to the Mac OS after a while but it would take a bit of time.

Not mention that if you need to run Win programs, then you need to pay for a copy of Window, on top of the Mac OS (I know, $25) and parallels or similar to run Windows on the Mac.

Two knobs out of maple. The one on the right had a fungus before it died that left the dark marks and a hole (not visible in the pic). I filled the hole with epoxy tinted with amber dye. The fungus was starting to change the wood color as well, making it a little grey.

You can see the damage a bit better in this one.

I've never actually seen her with any friends like that. She seems to be busy with either work or controls homework/lab stuff most of the time when we are not working on senior project. She never mentions partying or stuff.

The novelty is wearing off now since I have to teach her and the other senior project partner how to do things and that is hampering me getting the critical things done since I have less time to do them and since I am the only one that can it seems. If I was a better teacher I guess that last issue would reverse.

Don't get me wrong, though. She's still cute. Makes it hard to get serious business done...

Maybe I can borrow a calculator from her for the F.E./E.I.T exam on Saturday, though. I need a non-graphing calculator (or at least non-programmable, not that I know how to program it anyway). Ti-30 or Ti-36

Max, sounds like you may need to broaden what you're teaching her.

Dave, I think those fungus burls give the wood some character. Sometimes it's OK for stuff not to look perfect. (At least in non-concours applications.) Reminds us of their origins.

I them too, Alarick. I prefer them in my other turned projects. I just did not think having the gap there would be comfortable on the hands.

Max, if you guys have been working on this project together for the past month or two and she doesn't mention going out, partying or a BF, that's probably because she doesn't have a BF. And that spells opportunity. Not telling you to be lecherous (like the rest of us here on PPOT ), but opportunity nonetheless. Ask her if she wants to do something social, like trying out a new restaurant or catching a movie sometime. Make it a daytime activity to reduce the date stigma.

It's a nice thought but this week has been hell. I am under so much pressure right now. The team is wanting major work done like right now, basically my deadline is a lot sooner than other peoples. I had a 5 hour Preliminary Design Review, 2 midterms, the FE exam, along with several meetings to keep repeating what was gone over at pdr. Then I have to do a vehicle dynamics lab and a super long day on monday again (meetings, etc), on and on...

I hope that in a couple weeks things will be back to normal.

I'll think about it, though.

Finally fixed my front yard sprinklers - time for a rewarding beer. Anyone else up for it?
