Good race down in Austin today.

And too bad the NASCAR championship was decided in the garage. It's always good to see a racing finish.

Never had crackling. Sounds good. I would try it. Where would I get crackling around here?

Easy to do yourself. Grab a piece of roasting pork with the skin still on. Pat it dry with some paper towel. Cut slits in the skin about 5mm apart. Rub sea salt into the skin (I'll usually rub some dried rosemary into it too). Drizzle a little olive oil over the skin.

Heat your oven to flat out (maximum). Put the pork on a roasting stand, over some water in a roasting pan, at the top of the oven for 20 minutes. Turn the oven back to 220degC and cook for half hour/half kilo weight (ie 2kg lump of meat, cook for 2hrs).

When done, cut/peel the crackling off and set aside, cover the meat and let it rest. Now make pan gravy from the juices in the roasting pan. Carve the meat, bust the crackling up, and serve with roasted veggies. Smother the lot in gravy. Yumo!

Evening fellow earthlings, crackling, coffee, nads, Autocad, 'puters and all.

lovely quiet weekend, did a little thrift shopping today always like poking around in old stuff. Bought some old glass Christmas Tree decorations, a dollar a piece, so cute. Now all I need is a tree, maybe tomorrow.

You will allbe happy to know that I have defeated the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration office down the road, and now have a Maryland License, thanks to their Reciprocal Treaty/ Agreement with the nation of France. I had to give them a copy of their own policy and enlighten them to what it meant, and that it was their policy and I wanted to take advantage of it and swap my French license for a Maryland License, but after some 'discussions" they apologized for not knowing their own policy, took the French license and gave me a maryland license, of course after I paid them $60, shame though the French license is for life, never have to pay another euro for as long as I am capable of driving. But at least I am legal in the state of Maryland and my insurance company is a lot happier now.

That's one win for the little guy, or woman, told them that hubby would be in next week to do the same thing, but he will bring a copy of the policy just in case the next shift doesn't get the message. I sympathized with them in the end, training is so hard to conduct, policy changes all the time, and it is hard to keep up with all of the changes, even things that were signed off in 2010! Their supervisor had no idea that they have reciprocal agreements with many different countries according to their website, she said it was not possible, ...................they have been educated!

Tweeze can't understand how you have managed to live this long and not know what crackling was. Glad Jeff has given you the recipe, yummo, he is quite the good cook is Jeff.

Went to an Amish Quilt auction yesterday, omg the quilts were beautiful and nowhere near the prices that I had imagined they would be, and apparently from all of the chatter there, the prices were over half on average poorer than they were in previous years. Being a quilter myself, i was shocked at the prices the women were getting for all of their hard work, and the quality was superb. I had gone with a car load of ladies, and after a couple of hours they wanted to leave, so i didn't get to stay and bid on the quilts that I liked, oh well maybe next year. The average price for the quilts of say queen size to large king size was 7-800 dollars, which is so cheap.

Have completed the travel arrangements for the eldest and his girlfriend to come over for Dec Jan, they will be here in three weeks time, very excited, havent seen them for 5 months. They will get a shock when they look at the 14 year old, he has grown about 4 inches and two octaves since we left, lol.

Anyhoo time for bed, night Pelicanites.

Brother's Ex's new hubby kept his French license so he could keep getting out of tickets. Claims the cops don't write him up because of it. Don't have any idea what he does for insurance, if any.

Don't ask me.

At least it's a short work week.

I see congrats are in order for Azzy, after grinding down the DMV bureaucrats. Way to go!

Ha Ha Ha, Monday

Hubby forgot to take his nosebag, so I will take it in later!! He is one of those slim gents who grazes all day to keep up that finely tuned slim physique. So he will just fade away until I take all of his morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea snacks in.

With all his gym gear, work stuff, laptop, lunch, and bike riding gear, when he leaves home in the morning it looks like he is going for the week, not the day.

Good Monday morning folks.

My wife works at a local university. They are off for the entire week of Thanksgiving. I will get Thursday and Friday off. I will have to figure out some sort of project to to to the 911 for the 4 day weekend. I know I need to replace the front hood shocks again. I have the new parts but the drivers side is a frustrating pain in the ass job.

I will find something that needs attention. I may break down and wax it.

Hi Glen. I'm off Thurs-Sun, too. I'll try to get in a good long drive in the country and then wash/wax the Garage Queen. I'm probably going to do some planning for the upcoming projects/work-cation(s) on the SoCal house.

I can be on country roads before my engine is warmed up. But they are just staright section line roads and super boring. To get to good curvy country roads is a trip to eastern OK or Arkansas. That is an all day thing.
