I worked as a professional news photographer for 8 years. I had photos published in Time magazine and hundreds in the newspaper. I was at many news events and alongside the reporters. I stood next to TV reporters and crew. Virtually every story I later saw on TV or in the paper was different than what I saw. They left out important things and emphasized minor things.
One time when the POWs were returning to the country the governor of Alabama held a reception for the POWs and their family. I was the selected pool photographer to go inside to shoot a few stills. All the news services shared my photos which is common. As the Governor Wallace rolled his wheelchair toward the door to make some comments to the press the national NBC network guys tried to hog the center spot and block all the other crews. Wallace knew my name and all the local reporters and knew what to do. He rolled foreword and forced the NBC. Guys to walk backwards. One reporter conveniently tripped the NBC cameraman and he went down and smashed that high dollar video camera. The other reporters just stepped all over him and they learned the locals were not intimidated my national crews. It was a pack of wolves.

Excellent, I'll be over soon

I could do with an extended Sunday, this last one was too hot and too short.

You get your 5hit fixed Rick? Sunday must have been the day for dying appliances, our vacuum cleaner packed it in. Sharyn wants me to come shopping with her today after work.

Yeah, tell me about it. At least it's not for mind numbing stuff, like clothes or shoes (sorry Max).

Well just went up into the attic to get the Christmas tree and hmmmmmm it's gone. It seems that we gave it to one of the kids last year. Time to walk out into the back yard and find a Charlie brown tree

Enough ornaments can hide the ugliest tree.

I cut a branch off a gum tree from out of my back yard once. It was the ugliest looking Christmas tree I'd ever seen.

The kids stood back and threw decorations at it. They were satisfied.

Moved house just before Christmas last year - decorations never happened.

Sharyn got motivated last weekend. We don't go over the top. Put up a tree, dug out 26 years of mix and matched decorations - a lot of stuff the kids made in primary school, a bit of tinsel here and there. Token effort really.

I'm not that into it - festivus would work just as well for me.

Mom made hundreds of these

She made no two alike, they are the mainstay of tree ornaments at our house, and my brother's house.

That looks time consuming. How are they made?
