Is the alcohol in gin different from the alcohol in beer? Ethanol vs. something else? I know methanol is poisonous.
it is ethanol, just like beer. however, they use juniper berries (see below), which are toxic. i find that interesting. also, they use a few other things to flavor the alcohol. i like gin, but i could never drink it in any kind of quantity.

they have a 'moving object' radar. anything that moves and is smaller than they are is FOOD and FUN.

on a brighter note, the pup has figured out the dog door! i had to put a box in front of it so she could get out (getting in is not as difficult), but she has it figured out. damn smart dog, these english setters.

Merry merry and happy happy new year all!

Miss me? we have been on holidays, went to Florida, drove down the I95 took two days, stopped off in Fayetteville and Jacksonville, went to a Jaguars/Patriots Game, continued on to Orlando, did Disney for a week, am soooo tired, drove home straight thru took 13.5 hours not bad, since we stopped three times for meals and restroom stops, now recovering.

Did absolutely nothing for NYE went to bed early, and have caught Ricks cold, some a-hole breathed germs on me in Disney, so eyes watering, coughing, snot machine nose, the whole schebang!! Dosed myself up with "stuff" and am sitting here catching up on the last two weeks of the thread.

Pure Jamaica Blue D, not overdone at all eh? From our favourite coffee house in Oz, nice and mildly roasted, very smooth. Sorry I didn't send you much, it is precious, the kids only brought over 1kg.!!

That's how I like it as well, no sugar and just a lovely creamy froth on the top, and milk.

i only have one cup a day. any more than that and i have the 'coffee sweats' and don't find drinking coffee to be a pleasant experience. i like to draw out that one cup for an hour, maybe more, restfully chatting with my wife.

Steve and I like to make ourselves a lovely cup of coffee, and sit out on the front porch like a couple of oldies and take in the morning sunshine, (if there is any) and just relax with our coffees. Rain, Hail or Shine, just need jackets this time of year!

and, azzy, the coffee you sent to us is delicious! you must tell me more about it, please. it has a very nice chocolate note to it.

Glad you liked it D. As we did with your blend. We get it from our Hansel and Gretel Coffee House in Canberra. They roast their own blends, that particular type isn't a blend its pure 100% Jamaica Blue, there was actually a little documentary the other day on the TV on the Jamaica Blue coffee plantation, quite interesting. So now I know where it comes from.

Azzy can prolly get it pretty easily also.
Jeff we can get Milo at our local little Asian Supermarket, hows that for luck. Us Auzzies dont have much to look forward to here in the supermarkets of the USA, but I have also now found Pepper Ridge Farm brand imports and rebadges Tim Tams, they are actually made in Australia, so bought up their shelf load!! Keep the Hubby happy.

I was without laptop and can't see if I get stuff on my iPhone, so just went without internet for the two weeks, not easy, inbox got a bit full, camera needed something to download to. But I also had to spend half the afternoon going back over the thread to see what I missed.

Max, we do have a lot of Christmas Cards in Oz that depict our beach way of life, but since most of the cards are made overseas, most of the cards depict the Northern Hemisphere scenes, or fir trees and snow stuff.

Darell, I was so saddened to see the posts about Gigi, so sorry for you and the family. It is always hard when you have to make the decision to save them any more pain, you know its the right thing to do, but it doesn't make it easy.

Afternoon gents....

Just poured a cup of coffee de Nynor and trying to get good and warm before I head to the shop.....

I've really enjoyed this coffee, but I see a small flaw, I'm about to run out!!!

Gotta go clean up that truck dad bought.... It'd been a work truck and had a shoddy detail done on it.... You know the kind where the just try to soak all the dirt with armor all, not really clean it off. We'll pull the door panel torso we can start deciding what needs done to get a new window put in. Hopefully it just needs glass, and not a reg too....

Welcome back, sorry about the cold but the only way to get rid of it is to give it to someone else, That'll teach you to drive past me under cover of darkness.

welcome back, azzy.

thanks for the info on jamaican blue (sounds salacious, doesn't it). the coffee you sent is the bomb.

yesterday was really hard. my poor wife took it very hard. she made the decision, however. i just supported her, although i was also in complete agreement.

cheers, joe.
