Often times it's cold and wet at Hershey. I think we only had nice weather for 1 of the 4 times I've been there.

Glen, nice legs.......

Top photos is another good pic of predominantly white Porsche's!! I suppose we must get "into" some of these things now we actually have a Pcar here in the USA. Have joined the 356 Registry but will need to join PCA to get news of events around us on the East Coast, and beyond.

Coffee time, waiting for the plumber to come and find a leak in the shower pipes. Hope he is good looking!!! Not much hope there, after all he is only a plumber, not a mechanic or something sexy!!! hahahahahaha

Like I said its time for reality and a coffee

fint, your schedule is awful! We used to do the commute from the outer 'burbs thing for years. It just wore us down. So, we sold our good-sized house in suburbia and moved into a downtown condo. I love my commute, but I cannot say I really love living in a condo, or love living in this city. I think if I had to live in a city, I could enjoy a city like NYC, especially if I lived on the upper West side. The upper East side would be even better.

It seems like every year for Porsche Parade we here the locals say "this is an unusual heat wave" and we just get hot. The Autocross at Savannah would have been worse than Hershey, but I was done by 9:00 AM. Savannah had heat index of 125 one day. The Colorado Parade at Keystone was AWESOME. Highs were in the low 80s and 50s at night. San Diego was just typical San Diego weather. Sacramento back in 2000 was great. The week before we got there is was 100+ but the heat broke on the 4th of July and it was nice.

When we lived in Hawaii in Wiapahu my dad drove 10 miles to work on base at Hickam. It took him one hour each way.

I love my 8.5 mile 12 minute commute to the suburbs.

Saves me lots of money over something closer. It is sorta like having a second job. Big city pay with rural housing costs. Probably only need to stick it out a couple more years and retire to my vacant McMansion in Vegas. If there was work on my field...I would already be there.

Got an email Friday asking if I was still interested in a job I had applied to near Hickam. I told them yes! No response after that...but if offered, I would go there in a minute.

Well it turned out to be the ac compressor clutch had grenaded. Stupid variable displacement compressor. So I peel the clutch cover apart enough to get the car going and nail the gas and finish ripping the rubber out of it. No ac but at least it drove home. Looks like it is time to spend some money. Y'all think Porsche parts are spendy, try buying Mercedes parts.
Ack, I had the pulley spokes shear on my magnetic compressor clutch. Made a heck of a noise for a '44 when you fear it could be something connected to the timing belt. Immediate shut off motor, pull over, and look around. Eventually realized what it was, and drove home.

Took it apart, found a Ford part # on the broken piece. Ford dealer wants VIN of car, no go there. Porsche only sells the whole unit, not just the pulley - $$$$$$$

I managed to find a part places that had it in stock. Turned a $$$ repair into about $30. Porsche, or not, most AC parts are from other manufacturers, may be unique to the car in its interface, and big $$$ to replace. Getting just the part that is broken can be almost impossible to do as the factory only bought whole units. Sounds like you might be in need of the whole clutch unit though. Probably < $1K I'd hope. IDRC but I think its was < $400 on my '44.

This was in 2006 when I got to meet Sally Carrera. She is a cutie, even if she is blue!

Ain't it great to find the same part without the Porsche Tax.

I have been noodling with the idea of shipping the 964 garage queen to our western outpost for pleasure use when we're there. I asked Hagerty for an insurance quote on it, assuming it's garaged there. Not cheap. Also, they require us to have 2 other vehicles there since my wife and I are both drivers. Two other vehicles? NOT GONNA HAPPEN! We have a pickup truck there, but I sure as hell ain't gonna buy another vehicle just so I can have their bloody insurance. Grrrrr, I really hate insurance companies. Just a legalized protection racket.

I need to try some other collector car company.

Hawaii is a great place to visit but I would not want to live there unless I had a very large income stream. Anyplace decent is stupid crazy expensive. The locals hate the haoles. If you go to the beach and put your stuff down and go swimming expect your stuff to be gone when you get out of the water.

In this case, it was finding only once piece of the clutch assembly. I couldn't get just that part from Porsche as Porsche only had whole units. Wasn't really a Porsche tax, just that I didn't need the entire compressor clutch assembly.

My SIL went to college there, and the next year of college she picked based on income/cost of living!!! Definitely not the cheapest place to live you like the city life.
