There's a whole world out there of medicolegal stuff. You just render a medical opinion on something. You don't provide any real care. You just say if the injury is due to the accident/if the care provided has been appropriate/what future care is indicated/etc. You can do it as a sort of referee (neutral party), or you can be hired by the applicant/plaintiff or the defense. The one I'm doing this week is as a neutral party.

One reason I actually like this (sort of) is that there is no medical liability. In treating patients, I always feel the spectre of legal liability. It's that proverbial 1000-lb gorilla on my back. But for once, when doing medicolegal stuff, there's no liability. Just give an honest opinion. Let someone else deal with the mess. Christ is that refreshing. Plus, for once I feel I get paid in excess of my social worth.

The first movie was really good and tied into the underlying plot lines that lasted through the series......the second movie was just a long episode.....no tie in, no questions answered.....scully was still hot though

I can see that. I don't think people outside of healthcare understand the immense pressure on ordinary humans to perform miracles every day. It's a big emotional strain. That's one of the reasons why I got out of bedside nursing. It's hard to deal with that day in and day out. Sad to say I don't have that stress any more like that and I make a ton more.

Good hump day morning folks.

I get to fight with the local natural gas company today. I went over to my dad's house and noticed the central heating system was not heating. I checked all the simple things and then called the repair company. He determined the gas has been shut off. The gas meter is a "smart meter" that the gas company can turn off remotely. The bills are paid, the account was transfered to my name there is no reason to have shut off the gas. I never even dreamed the gas was cut off.

I am going to insist they pay for the service call. The good news is we did not have any real cold weather.

I had fun with AT&T yesterday trying to sort through their billing mess. I had transfered my dads cell phone number to my plan to keep the number active for a while. I shut off that number yesterday. It is not worth the money it costs just to keep that number. All I have received is telemarketer calls anyway.

Morning all! Long night last night helping dad set up shop. Sorting and sorting of lots of brass. New and used to be clean in the tumbler for reloading. The news paper in the bottom of the drawers was dated 1976. Always neat to see old news papers.

That's pretty cool, guys. Glen, I remember when AK and HI became states, but it must have been more interesting to those living there back then.

That is really cool, Glen. That would be an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Sipping coffee, reading through all of those. Neat!

Woo hooooo! Leaving to Denver today for work and snowboarding! Can not wait to get up to the mountains. Where is D when I need him?
