Howdy Azzy.

My wife was telling me about a lady she works with. This lady goes to a local church where one of the other members is from Oz. That lady from down under loves the smell of skunks.

Definitely will be trying out this recipe. The good old english Christmas Puddings use Stout/Guinness, and I know they are different things but for some they are almost the same.

Guinness Cupcakes
March 21st, 2010
INGREDIENTS:
For the Cupcakes

1 (12-ounce) bottle Guinness Stout
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
3 large eggs
3/4 cup sour cream
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa (I used Scharffen Berger Cocoa [4])
2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

For the Vanilla Bean Buttercream

1 stick salted butter – room temperature
1 stick unsalted butter – room temperature
1/2 cup shortening
1 tablespoon Clear Vanilla extract
1 1/2 pounds confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar, 10x)
4 tablespoons very cold milk

DIRECTIONS:
For the Cupcakes

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Guinness, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Mix in the sour cream.

3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa, sugar, flour, and baking soda. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet Guinness mixture.

4. Butter 24 muffin tins and divide the batter among the muffin tins.

5. Bake 25 minutes, until risen and set in the middle but still soft and tender. Cool before turning out of the tins.

For the Vanilla Bean Buttercream

1. Cream the butter and shortening in the bowl of an electric or stand mixer.

2. Add the clear vanilla extract and combine well. Begin adding in the sugar and mixing thoroughly after each addition.

3. After all of the sugar has been added and mixed thoroughly, begin adding the very cold milk one tablespoon at a time, combining very well after each addition (mixer on medium-high to high speed) until you reach the desired consistency.

Good morning folks.

Me and my big mouth. Many people know I upgraded the AC in my 911 long ago and I know a little about automotive AC systems. Anytime someone asks for my help I tell them I only do R-12 systems and I didn't want to contaminate my equipment with 134a. That gets rid of them. Except a friend in the Porsche club has a old air cooled 911 that has never been converted to 134a. He is coming over tonight so I can help him with a little AC work. I guess that is what friends are for.
Lucky, I usually have people wanting to dip into our stash of R12....

We usually clear out our gauges between types.... Dad has a neat setup to hook up an air line and vac out the system.

I told him flat out he is not getting into my supply. He found some somehow. It is not like it is illegal to have. I have had a few folks give me a can that was in their garage and they will never need it.

I would never use air to purge the system. I have a nitrogen bottle for a static pressure test or to purge after the system is opened to air.

I use Guinness in my spaghetti sauce. I use it to kill off some of the sour tomato twang. I would never think to use it in cup cakes.

We use the air pull a vacuum, not blowing through the system.

And R12 is still available, on Craigslist.

I might buy some in a small sealed can off of Craigslist. I would never buy a big bottle of it unless it had a factory seal on it. I have heard stories of people refilling a 30 lb bottle with propane and selling it as R-12 for a huge profit.

Propane is a great refrigerant with the slight downside of being very flammable.

Well folks, somewhere in these 4800 some pages I must have posted something. I cannot fathom what it was.

I seem to remember someone a long time ago saying they wanted to surpass the page count on the Random Photo thread, which, without checking, I feel certain you've accomplished. You should be congratulated for surpassing your goal and for 95,000 civil posts!

Seems like a good waste of both beer and chocolate to me. I would just eat the chocolate and drink the beer, no bowls or cup cake tins to clean and none of that waiting around for things to cook.
