pfff. I can't remember the last earthquake I've felt. Last one I was in was the Northridge quake and I slept through that. The faults not really a big deal. If you want earthquakes move to Turkey. Or if you really like them move to Chile. They laugh at an 8.0. An earthquaks isn't big until it hits 9.0. Or there is Alaska or Japan if you want a cold climate.

OK, I haven't heard of Mumford&Sons and I don't know what music Nickel Back plays. Are they "hip hop" or rock or pop or metal?

I have to assume the Nickleback hate is like the Chuck Norris craze of silly powers. I don't have any Nickleback and the sone Rockstar is the only sone of theirs I have ever heard.

I have never heard of the Mum and kids or whatever or any of their songs. I am just happy the tax dollars they are bringing to the area.

Hippies?? Where? Maybe at Venice beach. Illegals... Hate to break it to you, but they are all over this country! Hipster douchenozzles? Only if you hit up the club scene in Hollywood.

Joe, next time you stick a hand in the RC prop, do it right. That looks like a non-event. Try sticking your fingertips in at the ends of the prop. Sliced the fingertip off my middle finger.

I thought Smash Mouth did the song Rock Star. Or is that a different one?

so do i. remember: i went to elementary school in louisville, ky, and it was very south. the songs we sang at school were all slave songs, etc., and the headmistress was a strict, tall, black woman that took no prisoners. i had an accent, for sure, when my parents moved to utah, which didn't help things. i have lost a lot of that accent, but people can still tell.

i'd go back south in a new york minute.

i know. i keep talking about it. my wife's health may force the issue: we need to get somewhere with more humidity and less pollution. her lungs aren't dealing with it.

if i stay in my current position for a couple of years, it is very likely that i can get a job anywhere, even if it is with the government. auditing of medical charting is getting big and it is only going to get BIGGER. my wife is a shoo-in for any hospital needing a liaison for transplant or oncology.

plus, i'd love for my son to have at least some of his formative years somewhere other than utah. i like a lot of things about utah, but some things i will always resent in a very fundamental way.

Ok I need a translation from the folks from Oz. I was watching one of my favorite shows "How it's made" and they showed how they make cricket balls. Then they said the balls for a test match are different. What the heck is a test match and how Is it different than a regular cricket match? Why are the balls different from a test match to a regular match?

I thought they said they are red if they play during daytime or white when playing under lights at night.

A test match is the first match you light to light a fire or grill, but it gets blown out before you can actually light anything with the matchm, hence test match. The second match is the regular match that you shield from the wind and actually get the fire lit with. Guess you could use a match to light cricket balls, but seems like a lot of trouble to go to when you can just smash the whole cricket, annoying chirping bustards. Seems there is a much higher incidence of cricket ball lighting if there is a company that is manufacturing cricket balls. Probably funded by those uberliberal members of PETAB, People for the Ethical Treatment of Annoying Bugs.

The game of Cricket (test match);

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

Other forms of Cricket have one innings each and are of limited overs (six legal balls/over and either 50 or 20 overs per side). The only difference I know of for the ball is colour. Test match balls are red, while limited overs matches are white. The limited overs matches are often played under lights, and it's a bit hard to see the red ball coming at you at 150kph under lights.
