Pete, too bad about the car but it doesn't look too serious. Could have come inside with you!

Morning all

Sorry for you Pete.

My boss finally told his boss that I'm on leave yesterday arvo during a teleconference style group meeting. This is the fcuker that screwed our schedule. The fcuken rant about loyalty was unbelievable! Fcuken loyalty you Cnut. Who the fcuks been working 6 days a week, 10 hrs a day for more than the last 2 months? He's bloody lucky I haven't bailed on stress leave.

It actually caught me by surprise and I was lost for words, fortunately I had numerous coworkers and a boss that came to my defence.

Unfcukenbelievable!

Now, time to get busy for two weeks of retirement.

The web admin called and told me I now have super admin access to our web sites so I can handle all the fixes and updates for our current site while he is working on the new one.

Told me the IT Director asked if he thought I could handle it. He said he laughed out loud and told him I'd been doing web stuff since before he even knew what the web was and that my complaints about the current content management system when the then outsourced web designers first set it up is the main reason why they are now building a new web site based on a better content management system. The new system is actually one I recommended instead of what the designers used.

I think I am going home now.

Walked into the kitchen and back, I'm home.

Enjoy your "retirement," Jeff! Today, being retired means I have plenty of time to devote to cleaning all the windows & screens on our house. Oh joy.

We are here. We had to stop when Lake Erie was in the way.

We had to re route our route due to flooding in NC, and TN. Don't know how bad it really is but a different route makes it safe for sure

Yanno, once upon a time I thought I made a mistake, but I was wrong.

The restaurant on the edge of Lake Erie was good. We both (Mrs Carrera) and I think too much alike. We VERY often look at a menu and pick out the same thing. It happened again tonight. We both got the Lake Walleye. Yummy. Burp.

Likely our last fresh seafood meal on this vacation.

I asked the lady about seafood restaurants and she pointed out the location of a local Red Lobster. Yea, right. I can get Red Lobster at home. I want real seafood. Of course a lake fish is not technically SEAfood, just fish, but it is close enough and downright good.

With the sighting of lake Erie I have now seen 4 of the 5 great lakes. Lake Erie smelled just like our Koi Pond.

I will tell my wife you said that. I did stick a toe in Lake Michigan. Not the other ones.

We did stop in NY and pee several times. And we even ate a meal in NY. That cinches all the New England states.

Today was a long day. We were going to head further south. Then we started hearing the reports on the flooding in KY and we decided to re-route. Tomorrow is a long day to Rolla, MO. Then a short final day of just 387 miles and much of that is OK turnpikes with a nice traffic flow speed.

My Sister lives in Rolla. It's exactly 400 miles from my driveway to hers. In my red 90 928 GT I've made that trip in as little as 4 hrs including stops for food and gas. It was on a 4th of July weekend to boot. There was zero traffic from Joplin to Tulsa and I took full advantage of it. Had my Valentine 1 go off while doing 160 near Big Cabin, but never saw em or any for that matter.

Brian Swope from Warbonnet broke down in Rolla a few years ago. She put him and his family up for the night and helped them get a rental truck and trailer to get their Audi home. A cam broke. It was not too long after all the ZDDP was removed from motor oil.

There was a cool old car museum on top of the hill in Rolla. Don't know if it's still there, last time in Rolla couldn't find it. Besides the cars they had a restoration shop with all the machinery and tooling to build cars just like the 20's. All the machines where drivin off a big leather belt system. What I thought was the coolest car was a 1926 Oldsmobile SS. It was a boat tail 2 seater and had aluminum discs bolted to the wooden wheels. They said it's top speed was 90mph and was used by the rich family in Rolla to run moonshine. Visiting that museum was one of the last places my Dad and I went together before he passed.

The only problem with the turnpikes are all the construction zones. It's no wonder, never been thru there and seen anyone actually working. Wasn't ever as bad as from Dallas to Austin last year though. Seems like some areas of the highway are ALWAYS under construction.

We saw a ton of cops the last time we drove through Ohio. And they were pulling folks over like it was going out of style.

Stijn!!

We made it to Rolla, Mo. 13 hours of seat time. 826 miles from Erie, Pa hotel to Rolla, MO hotel.

Just 387 miles to get home. Easy peezy.

If ya whip out your maps you will see routes that are shorter. Mrs Carrera insisted we avoid some areas and take a goofy route to here.

Yes dear.

I hope you have as much fun on your trip as I did on mine.

My lower valance was almost yellow from all the bugs. We went through a HEAVY rain storm coming into St Louis.

That washed off a lot of bugs. It left a different dirt film.
