How much do you read?

I end up reading about 7-10 novels a month, pleasure reading, also magazine articles, this site and others. have only a small amount of reading to do at work.
How fast are you? On a 5 hour flight I can read 600-700 pages of fine print providing the books are good, often read 2-3 novels at the same time.
I hate it when I buy the same book twice, probably done that 15 times, T. Clancy is the worst for changing the cover pic's on his books.

I read 3 newspapers in the morning, cover to cover (of course articles only, and skip over syndicated ones that are in more than one paper). I also read at least an hour every evening , mostly fitness, health , and automotive books or magazines , and investment related media. I do speed read at the rate of 1100+ words per min but I don't do it all the time, just on the papers mostly.

During the summer I tend to read almost a book per week. During the school year though, I am lucky to get through one or two novels total. Between this site, other blogs, newspapers and online news and required reading for classes, the last thing I want to do is read more for pleasure.

I used to read a lot. Not so much anymore.

In middle school I read all six Dune books. In high school I read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings books, the Simrillian, and the Book of Unfinished Tales. I also read a lot of Stephen King, including "The Stand". I got a personal meeting with the dean after asking if the school library had "The Prince". I never didn't have a book with me.

In college I read A LOT of books for classes, lots of Thomas Sowell, and Atlas Shrugged.

I've read a few books since college, like A Clockwork Orange. I started re-reading the Dune books and the Lord of the Rings, but I don't have the patience I once had. I get hundreds of e-mail a day at work and routinely dig through volumes of technical documentation. I've gotten used to searching for relevant information and discarding everything else. When an author takes chapters (or in some cases, books) getting to the point, I get bored.

I go through cycles. Sometimes I read a lot, sometimes not as much. It somewhat dependent upon what the wife is doing. She generally reads more than I do.

I read books fiction and non-fiction (currently reading an astronomy text book that I bought at "Half Price Books" for $7), magazine articles, and information/non-fiction stuff on the Internet. Sometimes it'll take me weeks to read a book, sometimes I know it out over a few days. I guess it depends upon how much free time I have and how much I get into the book. I've read a book in a day a few times, but I don't normally have the time to do that.

I read fairly fast, but not as fast as my wife, or s_morrison.

I try to read one book every two weeks. Just finished Too Big to Fail, working on Comeback America, a book every American should read.

Walker had an interview on NPR Friday. He has some great ideas and a solid view of the world. I wish the gubmint would listen to him.

I finally finished Atlas Shrugged. 1200 pages of paperback.

That one took me a month to finish.

i read, on average, about 2000 pages of novel, per month, along with this a couple of forums and several sources of news. sometimes, i'll burn through four thousand pages of novel in a month. i can speed read, but choose not to, as i don't get the texture of the writing as well.

I read when I travel - which is frequently. Because I devour books, I try to only read at airports & on the plane to keep it affordable (I know there are libraries but I just end up paying for book rental ). At home, I read the net . . .

Currently researching Turkey - I am 1/2 through Orhan Pamuk's 'Istanbul'. Next up his 'Snow'.

Like Ian, I read when I travel, which is all the time during the week it has seemed like lately. I hated finishing a book mid trip, and then being stuck picking something up at the airport, since I usually read a couple of fiction books a week depending on their length. Steven Kings rewrite of "The Simpson's Movie" took me a little longer based on its length (carrying that hard back sucked ass).

My wife told my parents to get me Kindle for X-mas and I am on my 4th book on it, and am really getting used to it and liking it. I like being able to download a new book, and the selection is better than any airport bookstore. The main downside I have seen is having to turn it off for take-off and landing.

I read the McCullough Caesar series & that kept me entertained for a while. In fact, I read the series 3 times over the last few years. I very, very seldom reread a book.
