Would you believe that I heard a song from that album once on the radio when I was about 10 and spent the next 25 years trying to figure out what it was? I found it about a month ago after redoubling my search efforts- it was the track 'Forever Autumn.'

I don't know about the whole album, but that song is great.

Ditto on What's Goin' On.

:):) love this record. sounds so good on vinyl too...never thought of it as a concept record

not sure its really a concept record but i love Rain Dogs by Tom Waits

of course Dark Side of the Moon and everything they did prior to it

is Sandinista by The Clash a concept record? i love it

Great calls on all, especially the 2 Zappa posts.
But my vote goes to Days of Future Past, Moody Blues of course.

I don't see iTunes killing it at all. I pretty much start listening to all new music the same way. I hear song from somewhere, get into it, then start digging deeper into the artist. If the album is more of the same, I am likely to get the whole thing. If the single doesn't represent the rest of the sound, then it will probably just stay a single on my iPod.

Deschodt-

Queensryche's Mindcrime was the other album I was debating with when I listed Misplaced Childhood as my favorite.

I don't know many people familiar with one of these albums let alone both of them.

I have to commend you on your excellent taste in music.

jcommin 04-28-2010 11:09 AM

I have enjoyed reading these posts and I agree with many of the choices. Tabs: you surprise me but I appreciate your taste in music.

Albums are gone, gone the way of the 'B' side of 45's. IMO, the present talent doesn't have the the quality/quantity for an album. Even if they did, the producers probably see more profit in singles / downloads.
