Thank's everyone for your thoughtful advice on this car, as I said in the original post I am trying to decide what to do with the car, I do like the idea of a track toy. I know that I am in for another round of conversations with the wife about this car. ( she didn't think the boy should have it)

I wouldn't hesitate to take it at those prices. Wish I had some money to play with right now I'd be making an offer.

Joe, you're going to tell me something like "bite me," but tsk tsk. Considering "clean" '99 996 cabs are going for the low 20s, I think the mid-teens is all you can hope for for this car. Your honesty or not, potential buyers will be scared off by the diminished value of the salvage title and perceived timebomb potential. If you want a track toy, you'll have to put in a cage, as it's a cab.

Guys, I am not going to say anything like "bite me" or the like.
Was not trying to hide anything but show what the car is really like. IMHO the insurance companies stamp "salvage" on far too many cars these days and this one does not really fit that label.

I agree. Nothing wrong with 'converting' the title if you are up front about the damage.

It'd make a great daily driver. Don't worry about door dings, bumper-bumping or water spots in the paint. It's already a salvage vehicle.

You guys are probably going to throw rocks at me, but I say $7K to 9K tops.
Salvage title properly repaired with OEM STEEL parts is a 20 to 30% knock. Salvage title repaired with fiberglass, and I'm sorry to tell you this, but there's some really serious gap-osis there, is another good sized hit on top. Now we're getting to a 40 to 50% knock on what is already a "soft" market for 996's. There is no reason this is not a good car to own or drive. It's just going to be a little painful to sell... Not worthless, not by any means - dang good driver, but I restate - 7-9K. Also - you will get the best price with full disclosure including the fact that you've been driving it for 30,000 miles. In fact ESPECIALLY that! angela

Some won't touch the salvage, some will look at it more carefully. To me, depend on how it was repaired, how long has it been salvaged, and how was the repair. If some body works are not right (gaps), it's the first thing people will see and stay away, or try to get the price way low. If it's perfectly repaired and it's has been years, someone will take it at 10% to 20% as someone said above. If it's $7k or $8k, let me know.

You could try and put it on eBay and see what it brings on reserve. I think the front end looks good and infinitely better than a stock 996 front end. If you have documented pictures include those on eBay and perhaps you will get your reserve.

Thanks again for the advice we decided to keep the car and use it ( giving the nephew my A6 Avante to make room for it) Buy a good set of tires and fix the soft top and other little things and call it a day. Will be selling the 355 in Sept if anyone is interested!

As you like the car already, thats the best path. You could care less about the salvage title and know how the repairs were done, so enjoy it and who cares about the paperwork!
