Just to clarify, my Dad didn't actually make it, he commissioned a fellow Shriner who does that as a "hobby" to do it. I got to spend a half day with the gentleman who did it watching the final bit of work that went into it, which was very informative, never mind a ton of fun.

And thanks... I'm quite happy with the balance it has between utility and ornateness.

By the way, the knife maker's name is Joe Arnold, of London, Ontario, and he does do some really nice work.

Neat thread and terrific pieces. When I get a chance I'll post some pics of my German automatic switch factory handmade Boker's -Tree Brand. The funny thing is when I purchased them new in the early 1980's while in Munich (six of them as gifts and two as my keepers) I just had them with my carry-on and had no issues. Just a little WD40 tune-up on occasion keeps them working great. Scott

This was made from my 1980's campy #713 fixed cup/pedal wrench:D

I also have the cork screw, It's never failed.

I brought the shive to our trade show in the cork screws box to show th folks at Campy.

The Italians were stunned and speachless.

Jim-
That is beautiful. Is it tempered? Do you have a matching sheath? Scott

Jim Bremner 10-19-2011 09:53 PM

Damn, I was hoping to see some new.

It's not tempered, I was told that it would destroy the logo.

I'm still trying to come up with a sheath design for it.

I had it in a pocket in my shorts one day waiting for the right moment to show it to a bike geek bud of mine. The knife decided when to show it's self. It slid down my leg at 87 mph and nicked my ankle and stuck into the sole of my shoe. Bent the tip a little.SmileWavy

Here's mine. Simple pocket knive with a 2-1/2 inch blade.
I think I've had this one the longest...close to 2 years. I always seem to lose them.

I was going through some stuff the other day and came across an Ulster 10th Mtn Division knife I picked up at a gun show years ago. Similar to this one but in better condition..http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319134598.jpg

More like the condition of this one..

Some of my faves.
1- I'll try to stay out of the kitchen but I think this Japanese Wasabi bread knife is worthy of honor. With that edge, cutting soft bread makes slices perfect.
2- The USA made Cutco filet is awesome and I've actually used it for some razor thin ham carving. It's adjustable from 7 to 9 inches. Not shown is the trick sheath it comes with and has a built-in tail gripper, line snip, hook sharpener.
3- My little everyday Gerber razor box-cutter money clip. Toss the blade and replace, compact and thin.
4- The automatic and locking blade from Boker and Hubectus. German handmade jewels.
With exception to the Wasabi, I sharpen them by hand (no machine) exclusively with the Smith hand jig 3 stage hone to maintain the factory edge angle.
