I use 100% cotton nappies. (diapers) They're a little bit big but other wise OK.

$15 for 10 at from my local super market... Nothing like cotton.

Costco white towels, the hand bundled that they sell for $14 or so for 50.

As for washing, look on Craigs List and you can find a washer and dryer for free all the time. Put it out in the garage or back porch and wash the garage items there. Also scarf up a dish washer at the same time and put car parts in there to clean.

Works great and does not muck up the kitchen.

I use the blue paper towels and old socks. Old socks are great for removing hot oil filters. It's so dry in AZ that my heels get cracked and make my socks not last too long. Then they become rags.

The blue paper towels are my chouce for most clean up. I do have some old towels and hand towels for drying my hands. I wash my dirty jeans and shirts and hand towels in the home washer.

I always used the blue paper towels in the dispenser box. Looks like as of 1/1/2011 that will be illegal here though. I'm not sure exactly how this will play out?

No you will still be able to buy them, just won't be able to throw them away after you use them.

Man these guberment types are so frickin stupid it's amazing.

"A-ha-yep! I know how to keep those pesky oily rags and filters out of the landfill...lets make it real hard for people to git rid of dem...we'll show em".

Meanwhile back in the real world, farmers and county folk will burn them and others will ditch them on the side of the road, in sewers, in the bush.... anywhere they can.

Here, they will pick up used oil with curbside recycling.

Used motor oil is a toxic waste, because of the heavy metals and combustion byproducts in it.

I'm glad they are keeping it out of the landfills.

I am guessing some of you folks would cry like baby Algores if you saw how folks who do not live in cities have gotten rid of burnable trash for generations.

The comment did not mention a political party nor did it discuss religion. I was simply basing the comment on the fact that several folks seem to be very concerned about a miniscule amount of petroleum product ending up in a landfill. Ultimately I don't really care what others choose to do with their dirty shop rags.... Just as I can assume you don't care what I do with mine right?

PS My last name is spelled with out a "d".
