I'm guessing it will still be slower than a stripped, clapped-out Ford Escort on R-comps.
My "modded" 89 325is sure was. ![]() Now excuse me while I go rip the trunk padding out of my car. |

They can bring as much as $400, each, though obviously the driver's seat that you have is worth less. You're in California, right? Easy sell... JR |

Wait til you see the body rise from all the weight loss.
just make sure the cooling system is in good order- you can dump water and not know it because the resulting hot air sans liquid in the cooling system doesn't peg the gauge. i'd recommend some fresh engine mounts too. we were kicking srs ass in '08 for 21 hrs until the engine mounts let go on me (BOOM!!! wtf was that????) and engine shift cut a water hose. finished the race with rehabbed moutns made of threaded rod, big ass washers on one still semi-solid mount and other crumbled/sheared mount was secured with as many worm gear hose clamps as the guys could throw at it.

I'm thinking of these. Pretty sure that Recaro was a supplier... seems like there was another one as well. Either way, these are nice seats. JR Last edited by javadog; 12-21-2010 at 06:35 PM.. |

The e30 seats were produced for BMW by Keiper-Recaro to their (BMW's) specifications. So technically, they are Recaros, but not the same Recaros you could buy from a Recaro dealer, if that makes sense. They are BMW-only seats. FWIW, Keiper-Recaro made oem sport seats in lots of cars just like Leer and other seat manufacturers. |

No. The standard BMW sportseats for E30 were made by Rentrop, Hubbert & Wagner Fahrzeugausstattungen GmbH, today a part of Faurecia (PSA). Recaro-seats were a special order. Recaro to the right in the picture.

The Keiper-Recaro seats came in some e21s and e24s. The BMW 'Sport' seat as it came in the e30 and e28, didn't have any Recaro affiliation.
It's still a great seat, just not Recaro. |

I'm thinking about cutting off the slider seat mounts and using them as the platform when I install the new Sparcos.

All the roll cage pieces are in the trailer and ready to go.
They look really good. Also, the shop owner just *happened* to have a set of good used Bilstein Spec shocks/struts for $250! I need to call Porterfield tomorrow. KT

'Real' Recaros were also an option on e30s in some European countries. They were basically the LS seat with BMW specific upholstery, base, and hardware. All this crap has been debated ad-nauseum on the e30 boards. In the end, the e30 sport seats cannot be called 'Recaros' and no Recaro replacement parts will fit. |

No offense but the e30 boards are not where I would go for a definitive answer on the subject.

Just so you know, I'm not just pulling this out of my ass. These are the Euro sport seats in my e28 M5 and e30 323i respectively. Neither one has any Recaro parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, that's the best part

Like I said, they are in the garbage right now.
I might pull them out, cut off the mounts then toss 'em. They are no use to me... KT

If you take apart your pictured seats (e28 and/or e30) you will see BMW part numbers and Keiper supplier tags on some of the same parts. BMW DID, in fact, offer Recaros (REAL Recaros) as a factory option in ROW e30 fitments. This in addition to the Recaro-Designed Sport Seats. I have the brochure excerpt if you care. They weren't available in US cars, but some gray-market cars here in the US do have them. Just hate the perpectuated misinformation. I know no one cares, but just setting it straight |
