How could I not love Mustangs? My dad bought a new '67 notchback w/ the 289 HP and the first Firestone "Wide Ovals" that I'd ever seen. They had thin red stripes on sidewalls. It was late '66, it was the first *fun car* that he'd ever owned and it made us a 2-car family which was an indication of making it in America. He was 34 years old and finally making enough $$ to buy something fun along with feeding four small children and paying mortgage, etc. I was a 7 y.o. car nut who read every car mag and I savored rides in that car on weekends. I cried when we sold it, to a family friend that I still see in MN. I was watching out the window as it drove away. It was 1970 and the car was already starting to rust visibly.

This was taken after my Catholic confirmation, w/ confirmation name pinned on my blazer:

'65-66 GT350...remember reading of them new...back then I had "3 deuces and a 4 speed, and a 389". Back then I also didn't get it. Remember reading the 1/4 mile time of the Shelby, and thinking: "Not interested at that high price. My goat would smoke one of those." Yeah, it would...

Ahhh, but now a nice '65-66 GT350 has entered "if I win the Lottery" territory, price wise. BUt then so has a nice '65 G.T.O.

I have 2 Porsche but that didn't stop me from getting this Thursday. I love it. It is a blast to drive. Looking forward to going to Utah for the Boss 302 Driving School (included in the purchase). Only 3306 are planning to be made.

I'm Jealous! Did you get the red key? I think of the offered Boss 302 colors, you got the best one. Enjoy the school...I'm thinking you'll be surprising some guys with newly learned skills when you return home.

Red key can't be programmed until July but have it in hand. I did take the restrictor plate out of the exhaust last night. I never had something so easy to remove in a car. That changed the sound enormously.

This is bad?

Don't like the louvered tail lights?

I actually thought these were wicked looking little cars when i was a kid. Farrah Fawcett drove one in Charlies Angels too, IIRC.

I've heard the quad exhaust has quite a sound...might hear it sometime, but here in the sticks, I doubt any Boss 302 cars are around yet.

Yeah, maybe you'll come across it in your well set up 944 during a track day.

Honestly, that would be fun. Yeah, I know I would lose (would I even be on the same lap?...lol) but it sure would be a great time trying.

Wow! You are a toll of epic proportions. I was just looking around in here for the first time in ages and everyon seems to just about had it with your repetitious.

I am a member of a few car specific forums and would not dream of polluting the place with my rhetoric about how my car is better than theirs.

Seriously? What is your joy in this? Do you get jollies from downing other peoples passion in certain cars?

Why troll a Porsche board with mustang rhetoric?

Corvettes have a following all of their own. Some early cars have changed owners more than 20 times.

Bear in mind most of them down here have been converted them to RHD. More recently the laws have changed and LHD cars can be driven as is.

Exactly, the cheese grater tail lights were horrible. I didn't even like them back when they were new. That style of GT was a little overdone in the looks dept to me. I worked with a guy that had one that had some very nice mods, big cowl induction style hood, LX style tail lights. His car was really nice.

Yeah, when I was a kid, I thought the Mustang IIs were cool. I had a buddy that had one in the late early/mid 90s and rode in it once. It was horrible.

But really, there wasn't much about vehicles from '74-early 80s that wasn't horrible.
