I fell asleep less than 15min in. This show is a snoozefest.

G'day!

Watching the last half-hour of the last episode. Of course I know how it ends...
But at 10pm eastern, there's a one hour preview of next season which starts one week from tonight. I still think it's Abraham who gets his head bashed in....

I have to say that I was underwhelmed, but I think most of that is because of the hype and my expectations.

IMHO, it came very close to jumping the proverbial shark. A little gratuitous sex is fine but that went beyond just gratuitous violence.

I am definitely at a crossroads with the show. I've got a couple more episodes in me and then I'm likely done. For sure there are the makings of a great revenge story...we'll see.
And for the record, it was hard to watch, for me. There was almost a pornographic element to it, only with violence...I was peaking through my fingers. As with so many other fans of the show, Glenn was a favorite of mine.

I would have rather seen him eaten by a walker than go out at the hands of that sh_t sandwich!

FTR - I was right about Abe - but didn't see Glenn getting it too....that eyeball popping out was really good special effects!
As long as Sasha, Maggie, and Rosita are on the show, I'll continue to watch. The worst part about last night's episode wasn't the head bashing - it was watching Rick whine and whimper like a little baby! If that was Chuck Norris - Negan would have paid the price! Negan's the best new character we've had in a long time.....can't wait to see more of him!

I'll probably hang around 'till Negan gets his due, then I don't know...

Agree with others, the episode was flirting with my tolerance for graphic violence. My son is 19 and struggled to keep his composure during the hatchet scene with Rick and Carl. We as a family did not enjoy the episode at all and have since collectively wondered if there is any desire left to continue watching. The next episode may be the decider.
Guess I'm a light weight with this stuff. Wife and I watched Braveheart in the theater when it was released. By the torture scene I told my wife I was out of there if they got graphic. Having recently seen that movie again I was shocked how tame the violence was compared to current movies and TV programming. Edit - we watched the follow-on Talking Dead. Am I alone here in thinking that the writers, namely Robert Kirkman, come off like A**H****? Last edited by JavaBrewer; 10-24-2016 at 04:59 PM.. |

I will say this: the creators accomplished their mission. Their intent was to make me feel something. Shock. Awe. Surprised. Sick. When I look back, there is no Rick without Glenn (might even argue the same is true about Morgan saving Rick). So, yeah, I feel a little sick to my stomach at seeing a beloved character taken down like that. It's only a silly cable show about the zombie apocalypse, but he - Glenn - was a draw for me. So I guess it comes down to: will the curiosity about Negan keep me coming back?
I’ll leave the answer open-ended for now…

I felt the show had lost its edge over the last few seasons. I think this is a great indication it may be regaining that. I certainly hope so. I miss the relentless aspect of the first season, when nobody was ever safe.
