That many hits... turning each guy's head into oatmeal with all those blows... was a bit much, IMO... but I'm hoping that's the last of it. For a while, at least.
Somewhat echoing what sand_man said, I believe it was done that way for the effect it had on everyone... characters and viewers... and is supposed to leave everyone with an empty feeling and we'll see how quickly and in what ways everyone recovers... if they can. It's certainly an episode I'll never watch again. Looks like the next episode is going to be much tamer, and I think that will be a welcome change. And now, for some comic relief... something I ran across elsewhere on the net... please forgive me if this hits you the wrong way... I was a Glenn fan, too.

Just to revive this thread because season 7 ended on April 2.
Hated how season 6 ended and season 7 started. Not quite as brutal as season 5 first episode, "No Sanctuary", but still was hard to watch. Season 7 had some good episodes but seemed to drag in parts. Enjoyed the Kingdom and Shiva. Knew something was up with the Scavengers.

Thank the Lord that Negan has come through in many episodes to make it worth watching. And Eugene...whose character is very fun to watch.
Rick, who is supposed to be the leader, sadly, remains a clueless wuss. The trash people segments are over-the-top ridiculous. I mean....why do they talk like they do? Are they from the freaking stone age? At least the writers learned their lesson about cliff hangers. I also wonder if Dwight is being 'groomed' to take Daryl's place.....

Looking at the post count related to Season 7 unfortunately reconfirms my feelings towards the show. Season 6 was pretty good, but fatigue has started to set in, and the first few episodes of the year were blah and I stopped watching. It looks like many others did too.
Sadly, I don't really care anymore.

Wife and I were die hards up until the gang was captured by Neegan. Did not bother to watch season opener with head bashing, haven't watched since, and haven't missed it.

Season 8 is pretty lame so far. Two episodes in and nothing has really happened. Just everyone shooting at each other and sneaking around. I can’t tell where the different groups are or what the timeline is.
I’ve been watching from the beginning but I think I’m ready to skip the show and just read the synopsis. I think I’ve stopped caring about what happens to anyone. They’re all so shell shocked and battle weary. Or maybe it’s just me? |

People seem to keep making ridiculously bad decisions.
Given the flashbacks and flash-forwards, I assume rich has been captured. Again. And everything in the first couple of S8 episodes is all flashback. My wife and I are growing very tired of the show.

Just to revive this thread from the "Dead"
once again, I liked the pacing and action of the first part of this season. No spoilers, but a big departure from the comics seems to be on the horizon based on the final episode of the half-season. I understand how some of you might have left the fold over the years. It is what it is. The story is about the people and not the dead. I enjoy watching it. But I also liked a lot of shows that got canceled after a few dozen episodes... Firefly... The Sarah Conner Chronicles... so I am not a great compass for good serial television.

That's the bottom line for me too. My response to Carl's big revelation in the mid-season finale was, "Oh well...". The storylines are so full of holes now, they look like Swiss cheese. What's with all those dopey gun fights? Looks like they were lifted right outa some old TV western. And where the hell are they getting all that ammo they're spraying around?
And worst of all, after putting up with that insufferable Negan for two seasons, I have a feeling that Rick might just wind up letting the bastard live!
