10 years and getting better every day. She puts up with my crap; car parts all over the house; messy office; surly disposition.
She is beautiful, smart, fun and the best mother I could have ever found for our children. Just today, she asked me "What can I do to be a better wife?" My answer was not PG rated...she laughed!

I do! I have been with my sweetie since 1985. Married in 1988. She is my best friend. We don't always see eye to eye but thats okay. I think it would be boring without the occassional challenge to conquer. She is a wonderdful mother to our one and only child and takes very good care of me as well. Our interests and goals are very simular. We both take a day each week to go for a hike together and just spend some "us" time. Is our marraige perfect? No....but we have the rest of our lives to keep working on it.

We have been married for 30+ years. It has been nothing but joy to be married to my wife. She is the most supportive, understanding mate one could ever hope for.

We knew the we were right for eachother as soon as we met. We were engaged in 6 months and married nine months after that.

I pray I get another 30 years of marriage. I sometimes lament about the fact that one of us will go before the other and one of us will be without the other. We make sure to enjoy eachother, our family and life everday.

Married 34 years - high school sweetheart! We have known each other for almost 40 years. we have had some hiccups along the way but we have done our best to be reasonable to each other. It is like any partnership - give and take! As someone else said in this forum I hope for another 30+ years together.
Currently my wife is not well - post concussion situation - we are working together to see her through this and I hope this will resolve itself sooner rather than later. It has been 2 years already but she has been a trooper. Myself, I have difficulty seeing my wife in this current state. She was and sometimes still is vibrant and alot of fun to be with! We will see it through together!

I met my wife July 31, 1990. After a failed 13 year marriage to the wrong person (that did produce two great kids however) I knew that I had finally found the right one. I am a very contented man. Your wife must be your best friend - no ifs, ands or buts.

Been with mine 9 yrs, married 7. Best thing that happened to me. Besides the fact that she puts up with all of my crap and hobbies. In the 9 yrs only had 2 fights.

My only complaint with her is that she hates boats and the water (my fist love..)

Been with my wife for 18 years now and married for 15. Love at first sight for her, I knew in the first week of dating. It has not been without challenges though. But we have worked and will work through those.

This is my third marriage and I finally got it right. Third times the charm? The first one was idealized love. The second was a rescue from a mean cop husband and pure animal attraction. After that I finally took stock of what was really important - some one who share the same outlook and passions in life. We met through Match courtesy of their filtered database. We lined up exactly on politics, religion, life approach, optomism, professional levels, self confidence, and outside interests (bike riding, hiking, skiing, arts, black labs, and on and on). We have never in 10 years had a serious disagreement because we see eye to eye on vitually everything. She has helped me grow to be a better person and husband and she tells me she has learned from me as well - a high compliment. The key to sucess is finding someone who mirrors yourself - not wants to mirror you, but has independently grown to the point that when you meet you find they actually already do mirror you. She is my best friend, confidant, and we will stick together through thick and thin. (I too am tired of the wife bashing I see in other threads - but then I didn't do much better when I was a youngster either). Best of luck to those looking and congrats to those already there. (P.S. She loved Porsches before I ever met her. - Doesn't get much better than that.)

I was a one night stand that never went home. Mj got stood up by another man so she went to this club I was at to find a man to "use and abuse". I was the one she decided to use that night. Well turned out she needed loving and I needed cool furniture and 30 years later here we are. It's not always been easy. My drinking early on, her illnesses later in her life all have added to the character of our life together. There have been many times that our commitment to each other has been reaffirmed, most recently my stroke incident. We are the real deal though. Both of us together, straight down the middle, until the end.
This is one of my favorite pics of her, on the right and her best pal, when she was in her 40's. It was easy to fall in love with her.

44 years - two kids and six grandchildren. Took me a few years to realize that she is always right when it came to major disagreements. She's the adult in our relationship and is much more sensible that I could ever be. Politically, morally and spiritually we are in agreement. We share the same sense of humor. Each of us can be alone and be happy but prefer each others' company. We travel a lot and both enjoy jobs that allow us to do so. I have my golf friends she has her girl friends - but we have lots of couples as friends too with some overlap. Life's good.

Bob,

If you met my second wife . . . ..

But I think this is a friggin GREAT thread. Many of the P-Car folks I have met are in good relationships. It gives me hope.

Wish I would have had the patience with my first. She is a good friend now, but darn. I learned alot since those days.

36 years in March. Best thing I ever did was to marry the beautiful, smart and kind-hearted woman who became my wife. Though there have been challenges and difficulties in our life and relationship we have clung to our commitment to one another and the principle of marriage--and through it all continually felt love for one another. I love her more with each passing year and look forward to growing old with her.
Five children with eight grand kids and another on the way. Life is grand!

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Receipt for disaster:

High school friend moves to Portland OR., he dates a lot... goes out with this lady a couple times and they decide they are not a good match... bit he says "you should meet my friend Scott, you guys would be perfect for each other, but you live a thousand miles apart, ha, ha, ha!!!!"

So he gives me her email and phone number... I email her... she responds... I ignore her for a week or two.

But then things start to snowball... emails every week... every day... couple times a day. This goes on four to six months, we start talking on the phone (she hates talking on the phone, worked in customer service).

Finally I arrange to vist my high school buddy and and set up a date with her.

Snowball again, I am smitten... I start flying up there monthly...

I should add that at that point in my life (52) I figured I was done looking for a partner and was OK living out the rest of my days single.

She is twice divorced... first was the clock ticking (10 year high school reunion and she was the only single)... second... well... more clock ticking (she wanted to have children). Then we met but she DEFINITELY WAS NOT looking for a relationship or a hubby.

Anyway, we are crazy in love, it has been a strange journey... and it is just starting... we talk, talk, talk and then talk some more. We agree on the big stuff and don't worry about the little stuff (I'm Democrat and she is Republican... and yes that is small stuff).

Her daughter is going off to college in September and she will be (finally) moving into my house.

34 years next August. The love of my life; she makes me whole, puts up with my crap and is just plain beautiful. Don't know what I did to get so lucky.
