I have a great relationship. It's with my TV, but we are very happy together.

We do.

After my divorce I made a list of what I would like in a woman.

When I met Amanda she met every criteria except that she smoked cigarettes( I did too so that really didn't count, I guess).

We have seen each other or talked every day since September 20, 1999, our first date.

I knew after our 2nd date that she was the one. She was EXACTLY the person I wanted to be with until the end of my days.

She puts up with me, I out with her and we both put up with the kids.

Even though there are days when she really irritates me, I love her with every ounce of my heart. I probably cause her some grief once in a while, too.

Her parents divorced when she was 10 but have both been with their 2nd spouses for over 20 years. My parents were married for 47 years before my dad passed away.

I think it is all a balance, a desire by both parties to make the partner's life better, willingness to accept imperfection, and realization that nothing is going to be perfect all the time. She understands me and loves me anyway. I feel the same about her. A decent sense of humor and the ability to laugh when things go haywire doesn't hurt, either.

My wife and I have a laugh occasionally about the first lines of a children's book we read for our children many years ago. It went something like this:

"Jack and Jill were happily married and loved each other very much......but not every minute."

My wife and I have been together since high school (17yrs) we just had our 12th anniversary on Jan 7 (we got married on our 5yr anniversary)

Yes we have been together sense 16yrs old and have gone through a lot, the hardest thing for us was the struggle we had trying to have children
after a few yrs of trying we finally found out that I can not have kids naturally, we then went through 4 rounds of invetro and finally ended up with our wonderful Boy Girl Twins who are now 4yrs old and awesome kids

Im sure some of you here have probably had to go through invetro and if you have you know the emotional times that the women goes through

I our case, after we were unsuccessful 3 times my wife said we should just give up (I knew this was not what she wanted to do)

I had to force her to give it one more shot and now we are the luckiest people in the world

I must admit that I am not the easiest man to live with especially with my 3 day a week golf habit but she knows golf makes happy and also spending time with my friends so she supports that

We are also lucky to have a lot of family support that loves to watch the kids so that gives us a lot of time to spend alone time together

It does cross my mind from time to time what it would be like to go out and play the field but then I think about what we have built together and how I never want that to change

I honestly wouldn't change a thing. 10 years, and I still get butterflies. She's smart, sexy, and makes me laugh like crazy. She's my best friend--cliche and all-- but it's true. I can't wait to see her at the end of every day, and when I wake up in the morning and see that it is her that I'm next to, I can't believe how fortunate I am.

My wife & I have a really great & loving relationship in our marriage even though there are a lot of years difference between us. She chased after me from the time she was 17 & I was 43. I pushed her away & told her to go marry someone her age, have kids & be happy. She did find a guy (6 ft. 4 in. blond, blue eyed, 225 lb. body builder) and they got married. She always kept in touch with me & after 5 years of marriage, told me she was getting a divorce and coming back to camp on my doorstep. One thing led to another & and we got married when she had just turned 30 & I was 55. That was about 15 years ago & I admit I should have listened to her sooner. She's intelligent, artistic, poetic, talented, a hard worker & totally committed to out marriage. I'm a really lucky guy!!!

The sappiest thread of all time!

But good to know there are some great relationships out there.

I was a hound dog for many years. IMO a good marriage can help to center a person and bring out the best in them.

Someone here once posted this hierarchy in descending order of desirability:

1. happily married

2. happily single

3. unhappily single

4. unhappily married

If you are in either of the top two positions you are a fortunate man.

36 years together and still going strong. 90% of everything I've done she has been in on. Even went on the scuba trips where she gets seasick and can't swim a lick if she had to. Makes me pretty lucky compared to many of my friends.

I did the same, my wife, Holly, had everything on the list. I started to get cold feet about a year in when we were going to move in together. I found the list & realized the things that bothered me were byproducts of some of the things on the list. Motivated=Demanding, Honest=Harsh, Independent=Defiant. I am also a very difficult person to live with. It took us six or seven years to figure it out, but we've been together over 10 years & I believe she is as happy as I am.

She still has everything on the list & I'm glad this thread reminded me of that. I would marry her again. Most of all, she is a terrific women worthy of my affection.

Beth and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary and we did it the old fashioned way, we didn't live together first. I love her more than when we first married and she's my best friend, too. I do not know what I would do/be without her as she's truly my "better half"!! Those of you who know us will understand that!

I'm 40 and going on my 5th year of marriage. Mrs. Lee is 31. I was very happily single and didn't care about getting married at all. But I did it for her, as I couldn't live without her and she really wanted a ring. She still drives me crazy a lot, but I'm not an easy person to live with. I have my hobbies, don't care (at all) what others think (well, except for her) and I like being alone, not to be mistaken for lonely. But I like coming home to her and miss her a lot when I'm on the road. If we ever split up or she predeceases me, I'm sure I won't remarry. But I'm happy to stick with her and her only.

You're an interesting guy, Rick. We should go shoot paper plates together sometime.

+1

Mrs. Red-beard is an Angel, and proves it every day she puts up with me. I guess my good traits outweigh my bad. My ex's were crazy, one way or another. This one is perfect. Next Tuesday is our 8th wedding anniversary. I have a special bottle of champagne (A high end Paul Roget) set aside for #10...

One of my buddies knew my ex-wife. He called her a "Ferrari". Yep, fast, amazing, but extremely high maintenance. It is good having an "Acura" !

Well, there is an initial period of adjustment after marriage. Cindy & I havew been married only 37 years, so I'll let you know when the adjustment period is over.

19 years together. Would NOT trade her in!!!!

She is one of the better shots I have ever known, she works on vehicles, helps with construction processes, stacks hay better than most men, does a fine job building fences, helps cut down trees and plant more, etc....

She also bought our two Porsches!!!!!

Oh, and best yet, she IS my best friend!!!! Cannot hope for more!

And I've only seen one or two stories about an ex-wife that was worse than my ex!!! I will NOT even go into most of it!

I do, we fight like cats and dogs at times, but we always resolve it and *never* go to bed angry.

19 1/2 years together, going on 13 years married.
