Saw one today at Porsche North Houston in black/ black. If I didn't know that the new ones were around I wouldn't have had any idea it was a new model. I had to look very closely to notice much difference. Of course the interior is different. I am sure there are lots of improvements; some seen, some not. It will take awhile to grow on me, just like the Panamera.

I thought the 991 was the pace car at the Rolex 24. I didn't see a lot of difference either, if it was. New front.

I'll bet it's slightly fun to drive in a canyon.

I'm not saying that we're a bunch of scrubs here, (plenty of people who can afford a new 911), but for some reason this is an old Porsche board for the most part.

Lots of members with other new expensive cars but hardly any new Porsches.

Looks like a Porsche

Mind you, I'm far to smart to buy one.

I just saw a speed channel test ride show about the new 991. Warning don't watch unless you want to start saving your pennies. Nice report, seems more like a GT car now. Not that there is anything wrong with that for us older guys, anyway.

Cheers Richard

Those Speed Channel "test drive" shows are nothing but infomercials. Derek Bell kissing ass for 30 minutes, despite the car content I can't even stand to watch.

Yea I hear ya on that. Not exactly a critical evaluation. But it is a chance to take a look at it, and hear some of its attributes.
Funny how we don't hear the the real scoop on new cars till they are in the hands of owner /users.

Cheers Richard

I was staring at one square away at the front yesterday and never gave it a thought. Somehow I assumed it was last year's model.

Well, OK, I was at an all Porsche Concours (or concourse for those that dropped o' of skool) surrounded by a predominance of air cooled machines. 50 356's, long hoods, middies and impacts, plus a very few 964 and 993 types will obscure 996's, 997's and...what do you call the thing again?

Looks decent even though I dislike the big bodies of the waterpumper 911s. I can't get over the LED lighting. You guys think that's here to stay? Xmas lights? I bet money in 5 years they come up with some nice diffusers making the lights uniform, immediately making your 991, Audi, Bimmer etc. look dated.
