If you've ever watched "Only God Forgives" (2013) on a vacuum tube TV you've probably witnessed the second Shroud of Turin on an electronic device. 95% of the photography for that movie was his dull blank face closeup with flashing red neon and constant white noise 'music' at volume 11. It's the kind of noise mix made up of Swiss mountain trumpets, whales in heat, and loose train tracks. The same kind of noise mix in Lord of the Rings, Prometheus, and of course the first Blade Runner. That was great continuation of music and excellent visuals which I loved, but that bloody moody-music-track was used too much and on every scene such as the car taking off to leave wtf) and not only the really important ones to set the stage.

Gosling's character also gets into trouble in every single fight scene but somehow eats his spinach and bounces back from the edge of death each and every time like magic. Just like with Roy. Another unnecessary cliche which wears out.

I've you've ever seen French drama movies about ordinary people you will notice all the scenes are stretched out to max with protagonists doing ordinary tasks like walking which does nothing to further the plot. There was a lot of that in this movie as well. Too much. I was almost asleep in the theatre when the pack of rebel replicates popped out of the shadows and announced there was going to be a BL3 and maybe 4 and 5 but then they disappeared, not to be seen again until the next one hint hint. Then the wrap up and wind down began I guess. I'd lost track and interest by that point.

Meanwhile the luxury of a three hour script had all the opportunities in the world to give at least background hints to flesh out the world and answer questions: Who is the government and what is the world outside the city. Who are are these poor people and what do they do except walk around in the background. Why are some replicants hunted and some ok? There was just so many opportunities to introduce huge random themes (besides the rebels really to rebel and han solos other lost child) and make this one a deep puzzler like the first. But that never happened during those long three hours.

You know, I hate to be the dissenting opinion, but aside from sound effects that got a little too much for me, and a bit more length than necessary, I liked this version BETTER than the original.

I really saw the ache of things that are made to be things that are born...

Our small town theater had the sound turned up to the max so that part was a bit much. I'm in small town USA so it wasn't really set up for audiophiles, basically "Our sound system is pretty sad so just turn it down one notch from blowing the speakers."

Didn't think it needed as much boobs either. I'm a boob guy, don't get me wrong, but I thought it was unnecessary filler for this specific movie. As deep and thought provoking as the show was (like the first one) it was possible to carry itself without'em. Heck, Fury Road pulled it off without any.

But I'm being nit-pickey, well worth my $32 for my wife and I, plus popcorn and drinks.-WW

I liked it - I thought it stayed pretty true to form - updated - but true to form. and Greg - if you think about it - "Luv" kept on saying he was special (and she was the product of Wallace)- maybe that's why he got the special memory = although back at the base - "they all wished it was them"

all pretty deep.

In my humble opinion the boobs weren't really all that attractive. Movie boobs are usually pretty perfect. Not so much in this show. I'm not talking grape fruit in tube socks, but most of'em shown wouldn't look wrong on lower primates.-WW

I’ve since been told this is a drug movie. Makes sense with Jared Leto and the far-out feel. Maybe I’ll see it again right after I get my wisdom teeth out.

Good music, great visuals, thin story, a real (and interesting) climax would have been nice.

I agree on the sound and visuals. Very well down. ...But, thin story, with many plot points not filled in. It's not a stand alone movie. If you didn't read "Do Andoids Dream of Electric Sheep" or see the first movie, than it wouldn't make much sense...and how many people under 40 know the first movie. Blah.

Wait just one stinkin' minute...Fury Road not only had a gaggle of attractive, scantily clad "princesses" for half of the movie, but it also have a few very blatant scenes of a den, filled with naked women being milked. I think you might have blinked when you missed the boobs there.

Now, i apparently blinked when there were boobs in Blade Runner, who's boobs did we see? Was it the "sex worker" girl in the one sex scene? Or the giant hologram advertisement girl? I guess there was some boobs there...

Please do, I wish someone would explain why K got those memories and if that's luck of the draw or part of a plot, an accident, or what ?

I must be a mutant. I have never seen the original and know nothing about the story. I'll see if I can find it on Netflix.

Watch the Final Cut (in BlueRay if you can). IMO the best one.

I thought they did an extraordinary job following the feel of the original. There was even some symmetry that was interesting as well- K dies at the end after saving Deckhard as did Roy in the original, K in the snow, Roy in the rain. They showed value for human life (I like to think Deckard was human, despite Ridley Scott's converting him to replicant) and became more human at the end. Deckard had a replicant lover, K had an AI hologram (I find the idea appealing). The main villain was a replicant struggling with humanity in each- Roy and Luv.

Liked the initiative Joi showed in hooking up K. That was something I don't recall seeing anywhere else.

Liked the automotive product placement, lol.

Liked Tyrell a lot better than Wallace.

I watched it again today and didn't find one minute too long. It was like getting an extended director's cut up front.
