Bring it on! The original is one of my most favorite movies, and I'm rarely disappointed in Ridley Scott's work.

I give him a lot of credit for continuing with movies. I'm sure with all the royalties from past work, he is not needing the work to pay the bills!

Since Empire was the second installment, you must be glad Lucas didn't follow your logic and stop at New Hope.

Star Wars, Empire, and Return were designed to be a trilogy. Was Blade Runner?

I don't think so. My fantasy was to write a prequel. The original went through about 5 versions, the last one being the "Final Cut." All pretty much the same, although there were two endings.

Ninety percent of all sequels suck. Maybe this one will work...? I'm not counting on it.

Big shoes to fill, a sequel to the best sci fi ever. There is no way this sequel will please everyone. The trailer posted seems to have captured the ambiance from the first film, soundtrack and visuals seem to fit.

To me it was obvious that Dekard was a replicant, both in the book and the film. He was of the same generation as Rachael and it was when he interviewed her, that he became self aware. He realized that his memories were likely implants, that the black and white photographs and his dreams were a result of the implanted memories. Apparently he had no expiration date.

I hope this sequel reveals prequel information to the original Blade Runner.

I would like to see the film open with the original androids take over of the ship that they hijack.

Perhaps the the film could transition and then flash forward to the future where Deckard and Rachel have aged and are somehow involved with Tyrell corporation.

- the development of nexus 6 and 7.

- deckard and Rachel come to life, manufactured

- life on the colonies of off-world and androids doing the crap labour

- how batty becomes a leader, and plots the overthrow of the ship

- how the androids discover their expiration dates

- how the blade Runners are developed

- how earth is really forgotten, left behind for off-world colonies.

- The animal market and trade

- Empathy vs. apathy

- Gaffs story and the purpose of planting false memories, the unicorn.

- more on the Tyrell corporation, will they actually tie it to the Clinton Foundation?

Yup, I agree but I hope your wrong. But then, the film didn't exactly mirror the book, and the film has several versions, with some major differences. So much tinkering has already been done. HF hated doing the narrations in the first version of the original, and the later versions removed his narrations, I liked the later versions better. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is the best sequel ever.

I'm slack about going to the movies; but I'm NOT going to miss this one.

Probably the old one was my favorite movie of all times.

Replicants would age just like us if they were able to live beyond 4 years.

However, If you could mess with the aging process at the DNA level then anything is possible.

Tyrell: The facts of life. To make an alteration in the evolvment of an organic life system is fatal. A coding sequence cannot be revised once it's been established.

Roy: Why not?

Tyrell: Because by the second day of incubation, any cells that have undergone reversion mutations give rise to revertant colonies like rats leaving a sinking ship. Then the ship sinks.

Roy: What about EMS recombination.

Tyrell: We've already tried it. Ethyl methane sulfonate as an alkylating agent a potent mutagen It created a virus so lethal the subject was dead before he left the table.

Roy: Then a repressive protein that blocks the operating cells.

Tyrell: Wouldn't obstruct replication, but it does give rise to an error in replication so that the newly formed DNA strand carries the mutation and you've got a virus again. But, uh, this-- all of this is academic. You were made as well as we could make you.

Roy: But not to last.

Tyrell: The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And you have burned so very very brightly, Roy. Look at you. You're the prodigal son. You're quite a prize!

What if Deckard was a replicant...

...but not built by Tyrell? Perhaps a rogue corporation solved the aging problem with replicants? Off world labs?
We know they go to Las Vegas in the new movie, perhaps a shadow corporation doing research in a remote location?

I was of the camp that so very strongly wanted Deckard to be a replicant, Nexus 7, and to die off screen a year or two after the movie. Unfortunately, now that we know that that does not happen, we must accept the next most likely scenario, until proven otherwise. Occam's Razor says that he is a human as of now, because no other reasonable scenario exists that is more likely.
