Driving etiquette?
Just curious what others deem appropriate driving etiquette.
Say you are cruising along in the left lane about 80 in a 65 and passing all the cars in the right lane. Somebody gets on your bumper and tries to push you or persuade you to get out of their way. Do you: Speed up? Slow down to change lanes so he can pass? Ignore him? If you ignore him, how about when you get to a big brake in right lane traffic? Do you: Move over and let him go? Ignore him and let him go around you?

He's more important than you and therefore driving faster. Move over.

When someone hangs on my bumper like that, I'll give my windshield a thorough cleaning with the washers. The car on my tail will usually get a pretty good bath too.
Bottom line: If I'm already cruising at 15-over and someone wants to get by, I'll just let them go. They're certainly not gonna be holding me up.

If he is moving faster than you then you should move over and let him by.
My wife doesn't get this. If there is somebody moving up behind you at 100 mph, he can kill himself however he pleases but you need to move to the right to let him by.

All (Slower) traffic to the right after passing - especially when there are just the two lanes. Perhaps we would need less 4-6 lane freeways if this was done more methodically.
Who are you to think that you should go "x" over the limit and he can not go "x+y" - really warped to try and slow down those that are convinced they need to go faster. I let them go right on by and get the ticket!

Move over ASAP and just let him/her go. It's not worth stressing about.

Let him pass but why are you speeding in the first place?
What I do is stay in the right lane (we drive on the left down here) right on the speed limit. If someone comes up behind me I move to the left so they can pass.

Move over for him. That guy is ticket bait and you want to be the second car past the radar gun, not the first

I like the rule here that left lanes are for passing not for cruising...move over and let him go on by. Seems to work abundantly well.

Who is HE to think I should have to slow down to let him by? Just because he didnt leave sooner, I get to my destination later? Pretty arrogant on his part. Why is he more important than me? He can go as fast as he wants, but I should not have to slow down to let him. IMO as long as I am still passing traffic I have the right to be in the fast lane. I am still "faster" than average traffic and entitled to be in the fast lane. Its not called the fastest lane, so why does he has more rights than me? If I come up on somebody going slower than me, but they are passing traffic, I give them room and when available, I make the pass. I do not expect them to alter their drive to accommodate me.

Sorry, I didn't realize how important you are.

Then again, the closing speeds are significantly greater in Germany than in most parts of the USA -- you've got cars doing 200+ (kph) in the passing lane, while trucks and low powered cars are doing 80 or so, if the cars in the passing lane aren't respected, then it can get messy real quick. Technically, in both the USA and in Germany, sitting in the passing lane and not yielding to a faster car behind you is against the law. The difference is: in Germany, you will a. get a ticket, and b. potentially cause an accident, while in the USA, you just get high-beams in your rear-view mirror, an 'entitlement' attitude, a middle finger, and other road rage associated actions. -Z-man.

Move over, let them by, resume what you were doing.

Apparantly I am the minority so my opinion must be wrong.
I assumed I was just as important as the guy behind me. He must be more important if I have to slow down to let him by.

It really has nothing to do with importance. Faster vehicles pass on the left, slower vehicles move right to let that happen. Following that convention will lead to an overall safer driving environment. It also should reduce the probability of road rage. Live doesn't need to be one confrontation after another.
