Flieger - the pic in post 33 is an original 190 with BMW 801 engine. It flies.
Wow, the only original one with a BMW engine that I knew of was "Weiss Eins" which is still being restored. I bought a couple t-shirts from them to support. Where is that one in your picture located? I would sure love to see it fly.

Focke-Wulf FW 190 - White 1

Ah, the microsoft guy. I read about his B-17 project in Air and Space this month, but I did not know about this. I will have to schedule a trip to WA this summer or something.

It's worth the trip. Look for special fly days. They'll put the Me-262, Fw-190, Bf-109 and the Storch up in the air on the same day.

Yep, it's Paul Allen's project. They even have a couple of 88s which they shoot.

Yes, it is. The degree of restoration is mind-boggling.

Several years ago I read that the Germans fix for the wings falling off of their fighters was to place newly built planes and place them on a vibration table to age the alumineum

That's a new one on me. Recall the source by any chance?

By Jim727: Flieger - Depends on the respective model. The first 190s would eat the then current Spit. later Spits performed much better, but each had a 'preferred' altitude for combat.
Hence my acquaintence's reference to the FW-190's as the "Butcher Bird", a very formidable foe when they first became operational. The later Mk.'s of Spitfire used the Rolls Royce Griffon engine which I understand rotated opposite of the Merlin (which must have made things a bit challenging for guys used to the Merlin) but also made over 2000 hp in some variants - a nice thing to have in those days of aerial combat.

Cheers
JB
