Just winning a few mill is life changing and at the same odds, interesting to see what these larger number do to people. '

I have actually heard people say " ...its a half billion before taxes...."

like it really matters i think you would come out ahead.

it's 500mil in total future moneys.

it's about 20mil/year before taxes. so about 12mil after taxes. your 2 week "paycheck" would be $460,000. u'd be earning a wage of $5700/hr.

No kidding. I've been thinking about this, hard not to when its all over the place.

$389m cash. That's so much $$ I cant comprehend the scale. Cant figure it out? Take the annuity for ~20m/yr. You could do a lot of things with 20m/yr.

Why would someone take the 20 yr. annuity? The money will be worth so much less in the future and I doubt taxes will be getting lower. Better to take the bird in hand.

Maybe some one that know's they blow through the cash in record time? Just think, have 25 yrs of fun and spend every penny. Then in year 26 you decide to settle down and collect your last 20m.

Sure, I'd take the cash, either way its free $$.

I feel like a fool... but I put in $5...

And if I win... you guys will never hear the end of it!

As we were fantasizing about the money here at work... with real estate so low I would probably buy a couple properties.

If I win, unless they force me to give a news conference, you'll never hear about it. I'll have a lawyer collect after I've spent weeks or months getting things like a trust or LLC set up so it stays anonymous. I'm in no rush for the money and I wouldn't tell a soul other than my wife after I swore her to secrecy. I'd change my phone numbers, email addresses, quietly give a month's or more notice at my job with a story about taking care of family affairs back east. I would make a concerted effort to not fall into the traps that have bankrupted (or worse) other lotto winners. IF I gave a a dime to anyone, it'd be anonymously through a third party.

If I win I will give each of you a million bucks. All I ask is that if any of you win, you give me ten grand.
