Just finished the ordeal. Just one polyps. So I’m back again in 2 years. Other than a slight headache and drowsy I feel fine. I felt great after waking up from the induced nap. Wasn’t anything to be worried about. I certainly wouldn’t risk cancer for not doing it.

A pint of Vodka makes a wonderful mix with the rotor-rooter liquid.

Crap, it's a finger up your buttt.

I just had my second colonoscopy at 58 they found and removed one small polyp, told me to come back in 5 years...

Had my first colonoscopy at 54, found and removed a polyp, told me to come back in 7 years...

Funny thing three years after my first,I got a letter from the Gastroenterology Specialist telling me to come back on my third year, since the polyp was "potentially" harmful.... I found after the Initial 7 year follow up recommendation that my Dr was exercising a bit of fear mongering...And it was a form letter,, different font was used where my name was inserted...

Anyway... the cleanse... done it twice...not a big deal...Clenpiq just two 8 oz doses each with plenty of water..

They put catheter in your arm.. and tell you will feel relaxed..

And then you wake up....

Done..

The worst part is being hangry

I thought I would be hungry right after but really wasn't, just a bit sleepy so I went home and took a nap...but man, when I woke up I was ready to eat the paint off the walls I was so hungry!

Tip, 30 seconds to a toilet is a risk.

Will yesterday was the big event. It went smoothly.
Two polyps were found and removed.
No cancer was seen.

Doc wants me back in 3 years.

This.

Colonoscopy is a serious thing, but it has the bathroom humor all little boys like. And face it, we are mostly all 12 years olds.

Guess it's my turn now.

I turned 65 last June so way overdue.

No CC in my family so that helps.

Waiting to hear from the doc to schedule the appointment.

Will post more when something happens.

Great thread - thanks to all who posted here!

Just a small word of advice...after drinking the prep, if you feel like you need to break wind...don’t. Unless you have a change of underware handy.

12 years old, indeed.

A change of underwear, clean pants a mop for the floor. Yea, farts are not to be trusted or tried until after the procedure. After taking any of the prep, do not get far away from a bathroom, and make sure anyone else in the house is using a bathroom further away to keep the nearby one available.

Just had it done a few days ago. Prep was called "golytley". One gallon container with powder in the bottom. I did add the lemon flavor packet that came with it and also some artificial sweetener. Had trouble getting it to completely dissolve. Absolutely do not trust a fart. Drank half a gallon for the initial prep the afternoon before. Took about 4 hours for the last to pass after the last glassful. Finished drinking the other half gallon in the morning 5 hours before seeing the doc. Procedure went well. Woke up and couldn't tell if it was preformed or not. 2 polyps for testing, all looked good the doc said. See you in 5 years.
Hope yours goes as well.

Thanks Byron and all others.

I talked to a friend's girlfriend and she said he hated the prep and actually spent some time barfing into the dunny.

She had it done as well and said when she woke back up from the propofol - she said she felt amazing - like a whole new person. Which I found kinda interesting.

I will heed the advice given here for sure.

Thanks again!

Tomorrow’s the big day. Been 10 years and I’m overdue.

Toast for breakfast and jello/broth for the rest of the day today. Prep starts at 4 pm. 😂

Then repeat prep at 10 am tomorrow.

Procedure at 1 pm.

What are the costs associated with a colonoscopy if one doesn't have health insurance? Colon cancer took my mother.
