Did the colonoscopies at 50 and 60. Both clear as a bell. No more for me. Perhaps a cologuard at 70...at most

Bill...hopefully just an internal hemorrhoid causing the blood. Daytime naps are perhaps just age...and a thing of beauty! Good luck.

Thanks Mike. Kind words. I've just spent 18 grand on medical for the dog so I don't want to spend any more money on me LOL If I'm sick I might opt for euthanasia to save some cash.

Speaking not terribly medically, but the doctor says I may have cancer of the arse and need the colonoscopy. Eek, blood with poo and falling asleep during the day for no reason = blood loss internally. So we'll see what the colonoscopy says.

My annual colonoscopy is Tuesday. Been a regular since I was 45 (I'm 57 now)

Damn Bill. Wishing you the best. Keep us informed. I've had blood at times, but have come out clean on colonoscopies & tests. Hope it's the same for you.

Did my most recent exactly one week previous to yours. Guess I’ve gotten used to them now.
Don’t think about it until it’s time, then just drink the jug, and in a couple hours, whoosh. A couple more whooshes. Get a couple hours sleep. Then the the morning a few more gulps from the jug, another quick whoosh or three, and I’m good. Doesn’t really even seem to taste too bad now. I remember my first time, and thought I’d rather be dead. But I guess you really can get used to anything.

I'm not sure I want to get that used to it. The liquid still taste terrible to me. Going to the Doc for a look see about every 3 years.

True, they've definitely improved the taste and said that I could mix it with Sprite. One more batch to go and I'll be finished with that part.

I agree with the others that drinking that horrible tasting powder/water mix is the worst part of the colonoscopy.

One other thing I’ve learned, schedule your colonoscopy for as early as possible the morning after you drink the juice. One time I forgot it got scheduled in the afternoon. I was ready to start chewing my arm off from hunger.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this here before, but ....

I've done the "regular" type twice now, and both times they found different cancers. They would not have been found by the cologuard test.

The first one was serious enough (same cancer as what killed Steve Jobs and Aretha Franklin); Neuroendocrine cancer. The second one was a mole that was "bad", that I couldn't see.

I'm truly one in a million on this, but I feel really lucky to have had these found. I'm now followed with bi-annual scans, bloodwork, and I get a monthly infusion (all for the Neuroendcrine cancer). Mine was found early enough that surgery got it (most) and I have a low proliferation and growth rate (measurable from biopsy)

The good thing is that with all the bloodwork and scans (PET/CT head to mid thigh) they also know what I "don't" have.

50% of men in America will get cancer in their lives. But that's everything from moles to brain cancer... so they aren't all deadly. Advances in detection and treatment have grown/expanded dramitically and will only continue to do so. The new options and treatments for my own Neuroendocrice cancer (which is considered an orphan cancer) has really increased since mine was found 5 years ago (on Halloween!). I'm hopeful to be here a long time.

Today I received the email notification from my primary doctor that I am due for another colonoscopy . I am on the five year plan and I turn 65 in January . I am usually good for a polyp or two . This will be my fourth one so no big deal . To me the temporary inconvenience is well worth potentially finding cancer early .

When I prepped for my first colonoscopy I drank this stuff called PegLyte. It tasted like fruit punch that went bad. Drinking it cold helped.

In 2011, I thought I had the flu that was raging through the office. I was 43 then so I blew off the intestinal pangs I was experiencing. Then I was hit with the most intense pain in my life. I could not think, breath or blink. Then it was gone……WTH?!?!?

12 hours later I was in emergency surgery and septic. Had a tear in the Sigmoid Colon. CT showed free air and fluid in my abdomen. Another few hours and I would not have been able to pull out of it. Had an appliance for four months and then a second takedown surgery. It was hell for a very long time.

I now get to have these procedures a bit more frequently.

What’s my point, you may ask. These are a pain and it sucks going through the prep. It just may save your life. I was lucky, and I don’t care to go through that again. At 54, who knows if I would have survived.

Just sayin, stay strong and prep on.

100% agree. Our hospital will not allow a taxi to pick-up.
When I had my balloon kyphoplasty done..I told the gal that I was walking to a friends place nearby. She just said "no way'. I had a friend drive over for the release and then I drove my car home.
