Never liked Floyd . But kind of into Division Bell.

Amazing, and hauntingly beautiful.

The Comfortably Numb transition to Gilmour singing "There is no pain, you are receding" is unmatched IMHO.

Edit: After several days of listening to the 1960's Pink Floyd work, I am glad I did not cast a vote because I would have been talking out my rear end. That was an eye opener.

Okay who wants to make me an insane offer on my copy of Dark side, on vinyl, in quad? And yes I still have a functioning quad receiver. :)

Some very old, very cool Floyd.

Animals through a Mac 2500 sounds good, have to remember to tape the breakfront doors shut.

Glad that someone mentioned these! My favourite as well...

It is a fine tribute to PF when so many individual connoisseurs' lists of favorites have so little redundancy.

I've thought for many years the 60's was the golden age of popular music. Then along came PF who raised the bar even higher.

Truly the music of the mid to late 20th century is on par with Italian Rennaisance painting. Time may or may not reveal this as hyperbole. I tend to think not.

I would consider Floyd my second favorite behind Zeppelin. They are a Band that comes and goes with my different moods and things. Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are the two obvious choices. Unfortunately due to heavy air play we take the songs for granted. My favorite song is Pigs on a Wing (Three different ones). Sick s**t and still relevant and true to this day IMHO

scottmandue 05-14-2012 04:06 PM

I played the crap outta "Wish you were here" and "Dark side" back in the day.

Saw "The Wall" live... very cool but don't own the album... just doesn't do it for me.

the very earliest stuff with Syd is what i love and prefer to listen to, but if i had to pick their best work it would be without a doubt dark side of the moon. never gets old. a true masterpiece no matter who made it

Very true. And DSOTM wa the first CD I in my collection, and it came with my first home audio CD player. A very nice Christmas present from my wife, 25+ years ago. Needless to say, Christmas night we were blasting Pink Floyd on the stereo.
Still have the CD and wife...think I'll keep em both.:D

Floyd's lyrics are great. I always loved this from Sheep (Animals):

When cometh the day we lowly ones
Through quiet reflection and great dedication
Master the art of karate
Lo, we shall rise up
And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water.

it was the very first compact disc i bought as well and i still have that copy. when i was 14 and the CD player was a new thing, i remember thinking what recording would best show off this new technology and DSOTM was what i chose. lawn mowing money well spent

today when i pick it up, you can feel how much heavier it is than modern CDs. maybe its the jewel case thats heavier plastic or something

ramonesfreak 05-14-2012 05:53 PM

my favorite floyd lyric from echoes

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
