What do you think was Pink Floyd's best work?
Had a bad storm come through last night while I was jammin out to Animals... I sort of pondered the thought and figured I would ask you guys your opinions. Personally, I think shine on you crazy diamond and Pigs (three different ones) are their best work song wise... album wise, I think I am going to have to lean towards Wish you were here. Been outside all day cutting fallen limbs (one that landed on top of the suburban breaking a window and damaging a door) I think the sun has gotten to me :)

I think Animals may be my favorite to listen to beginning to end. Going to see Roger Waters perform The Wall, June 11th. Can't wait, never seen him live.

There is an unpublished track of Dark Side of the Moon that was done at a concert back when the drugs were flowing freely and it runs about 45 minutes. You can find it on the newgroups such as alt.binaries.mp3.music.bootleg. It really really has some great guitar and organ work!

I know every lick and note on "Wish You Were Here"; I've played it to death, and I still love it.
Yet, I'm not sure if it's my all-time favorite. I think ALL of their albums, (up to and including "The Wall", and ending with anything after the big divorce) are my favorites! Richard Wright playing the intro to "Echos" on the Pulse album will cause the hair on the back of my head to stand up! Pink Floyd, it's like Bach! Something new to hear each time you listen! |
I have always hate Pink Floyd. Depressing crap.

Dark Side of the Moon. Best album ever.

Wall.....Comfortably Numb for sure.

My favorite album is whatever depresses HardDrive the most.
Though I find myself listening to Wish You Were Here, The Wall, and Momentary Lapse of Reason pretty often. |
Wife and kids are out of town. Was listening to some of my collection of live DVD's last night.
Pulse was rumbling and took a couple of pictures off the shelf. I did not have to turn it down after the weaklings fell, I could actually turn it up some more. |
Great thread.
There will never be another band like Pink Floyd. So much great music we all have our favs but there's too many good ones to say which one is best, hey. Here's an example....set to 720p and expand to full screen. The whole song is unreal but the best is the second half with the vocals. I mean look at the production...the background images, special effect lighting, creative lyrics, and actual instrumentals......there's never been anything even close to what PF represents on so many levels. Listening to this just takes me somewhere away from it all.....I don't even know where but it's far away - that's for sure! ;) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o6u4X-obat4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Even the "Pulse" packaging was ahead of it's time...the little red blinking light - I don't know how many times I bought a new battery for it just to maintain that one little entity in my life I knew I could count on and control...ha ha. Crazy...... |
floyd is what i listen to while motorcycling. i like the live stuff, echoes comes to mind, and pompeii.
|
For me, Animals and Dark Side of the moon. I can still remember as a teenager working a summer job at a fiberglass factory building dune buggy bodies and various Gov't products with a shop full of strung-out bikers listening to Dark Side over & over.
