iTunes Frustration
![]() iTunes seems to know when I put a CD in, and asks me if I want to add it to my Music Library. Trouble is, after several minutes of reading and transferring, those songs still won't got onto my Music Library. It seems as though I have to TELL iTunes to "Create ACC Version." Then, sometimes, it can be manually copied to my Music Library. In the past I have had good luck getting iTunes to "Get Track Names." Now, that doesn't work anymore. I get a message which says: "Unable to connect to the CDDB server. The network cannot be reached. Make sure your Internet connection is active and your networks settings are correct, then try again." WTF? It worked before. I am posting on Pelican. WTF is now wrong with my network settings?

Okay, now I've competed the step called "Create ACC Version" and they still won't copy to my Music Library.
I've also manually renamed each song, which is a PITA. Then I clicked on "Submit CD Track Names" where I was asked to provide the artist's name, name of album, genre......then, it said: "The CD information was successfully sent to the Gracenote CDDB Server" The same server that I cannot connect with to get track names? I can send information to the server, but cannot contact it for track names? WTF?

iTunes sucks sweaty donkey balls. Get a better music software program and buy from Amazon MP3. Sorry that doesn't help right now, but your problem is them, not you.

All I want to do is load CDs onto my ipod. That's all I friggin' want to do, and iTunes can't seem to do that consistently.

BTDT you are in Apple Hell. I ended up buying a Roland MP3 recorder and burning with Pyro Audio. Check out some base model software from Cakewalk.

Have you gotten on the iTunes help? May need to reinstall iTunes...
Fwiw, I have no trouble ripping CDs in iTunes, do it quite a bit.... Usually buy mp3s at amazon, and the amazon mp3 downloader puts them in iTunes.. |

Are you running the latest Itunes version?
You can adjust your import settings under preferences.

Another consideration is that he's a musician, so he'd want to burn demos. Some audio software and gear would be dual use.

I know you are correct and I wonder.....whatever happened to that Apple value on making it easy for the user. Everything used to be intuitive and automatic.
I finally got the first album into my Music Library. Apparently, the information (song names....) needs to be manually inputted BEFORE creating "ACC version." Fk.... Then I put another album in and guess what. It immediately knew the information, then apparently automatically created the ACC version. Snap. Piece of cake.

There should be two different cyberworlds. Two separate Internets. One for old farts like me, and one for everyone else.

Or maybe just quit tweaking everything until it's impossible. I was talking to a computer tech in his shop last week about maybe building a computer. I told him too bad we couldn't load Win 98 2nd ed as the OS. He totally agreed.

Are you trying to download songs from a CD you've purchased or one you've copied?

But then (this is interesting, really, I'll be brief)......it told me it could not load a whole Bonnie Raitt album because there was no room left on the (4G) ipod. I said OK instead of cancel. It loaded about half the songs. Then, I deleted a couple of other, lesser albums/playlists. I deleted the Raitt playlist. Then I copied the full Raitt playlist back to the ipod, and it only loaded the same songs....half of the album I did more deleting, and still it would only load the same six Raitt songs, rather than transfer the whole playlist. So.......I added all the albums back to the ipod that I had deleted. No problem. So.....then I added several more albums. No problem. Fk.! Gonna try again this morning.

I'm back in "itunes hell." I've got an ipod that has music on it that is not in my library. How do I tell itunes to download the music from an ipod into my Music Library?

iTunes is unidirectional. It's to prevent an iPod from becoming a way to share/pirate music. Probably was part of the original concessions that Apple needed to make to the music industry.

I am never going to be a fan of Itunes or apple. In the time it takes to hook up your Ipod/Iphone to add or subtract music, my Android phone has been unhooked and is walking out the door. Click/drag/drop/done. The only permissions I need are my own and deleting stuff is done on the phone, no need to reconnect.
Apple is just in love with the sound of their own voice
