She's had some nasal issues for the past 6 months as well as some periodic hacking.

Her vet and I have been trying a few things and yesterday made the decision to go forward with this procedure, which we hope will reveal what's causing her problems.

Going to take some chest xrays too while she's out.

Fingers, toes, and paws crossed for a treatable diagnosis!

Prayers from the 3 of us.
All will be well.

Good luck Baz. Give Winki my best. I'm sure they'll find the issue.

Thanks for asking and sorry I haven't posted an update.

The vet wanted to get a blood test first before doing anything else. Especially because she will be anesthetized for the Rhinoscopy, it's not unusual nowadays for vets to get as much diagnostics as possible beforehand so they can make the best decision on how to proceed.

So she did that and took a few radiographs and asked if we could return this week to move ahead with the rest of what is needed. She also wanted to shoot some radiographs of her teeth area to see if it's possible that the roots of a tooth could be causing some irritation and hence nasal condition.

So, I felt she was proceeding in a very logical manner to make sure we cover all bases and we are going back on Thursday for the Rhinoscopy and whatever else is needed.

I'm really glad she did the blood work as Winks has been on Thyroid tabs for the past year and I was interested in how that value looked at this point so we could tweak her meds as needed.

I will definitely post another report after we get done on Thursday and very much appreciate everyone's caring!

The vet said Winks is in very good condition other than this nasal thing so obviously that was good news.

Thanks once again friends.....belly rubs and butt scritches to your fur children! SmileWavy

you'all.

does your dog like veggies? mine is a freak. he likes anything. bell peppers got him salivating yesterday. a good orange? forget it. drool puddles.

we checked with our vet what was acceptable plant food for him. he ate raw cabbage! i barely like raw cabbage.

Do you have foxtails in Fla? They are all over the place here in SoCal, couple times a year my girl would get one up her nose and the vet would go in with the forceps and pull it out.

Hunting Club. When they run out of roosters they release hens. Pretty much farm raised, but the dogs still have fun.

Thanks, Scott! (please see below)

Quick Winkipop report:

Long day at the vet today but her X-rays & blood work all came back good and after the nose scope the vet said she didn't see anything that could physically be causing her issues --- but she has inflammation (called Rhinitis) so we're going to try some antibiotics and nose drops and see if that helps. The vet also took a tissue sample to send off to see if it will point us in the right direction wrt causal pathogen.

I'm impressed with this vet and clinic - very thorough with a structured troubleshooting approach.

At least we've eliminated a few things and narrowed down the possibilities.

Here's Winks when I picked her up today - ready to go back home!

Ha! She's always looking for them, Rutager!

The vet said she probably wouldn't have an appetite when we got home. Wrong. She ate both Billabong's leftover breakfast and her dinner.....and was still mooching from Dad afterwards.

Billabong didn't eat all her breaky because she missed her big sister so much.....awww....

All the best to you and yours, Rutager! SmileWavy

If you're talking about the Agapanthus - it's not harmful. I said they were "huge clumps" - that's all. It's a perennial that blooms in May and highly valued in the landscape industry.

Most varieties are purple/blue tones but there's also a white variety.

Thanks Baz!

Appreciate the clarification. I know lots-o-folks with them.......and puppers. Thought maybe after all these years, they can create havoc with our four legged family.
