Now he is a little older, they are saying Dutch Shepherd mix with either Great Dane or Mastiff, because of the size. He makes the other dog look small, but 95# is by no means little

My wife tells me he literally just knocked a rat off the top of the fence and ate it before she could get it away from him, a big rat

man..this is terrible news. sorry for the loss.

Tobra 07-17-2018 08:39 PM

Liver failure, that must have been rough.

Big dog like a collie, I would make him drink beer instead of letting him have red wine.

Bosco is a 4 year old mini labradoodle who weighs 33 lbs. Regarding the summer time care mentioned above: we live on a golf course and when I walk Bosco on the cart path, I cannot keep him out of the bushes where he ALWAYS retrieves a golf ball. He will then carry it with him the rest of the walk. I'm wondering if that restricts his panting ability and may overheat him? Any opinions?--Dave

Here’s Gus, a 6 year old Labradoodle who is paralyzed in his back legs. A vet Tech from where I used to take Tundra called me as she needs to re-home him; unfortunately my days are just too long and about to get longer, but I volunteered to take him for a few weekends to get him used to other people and hopefully using his wheels.

His back legs spasm or he has minor control of them and in the grass, he kind of does a weird almost disturbing bouncing motion and he sort of runs around.

Taking our little french bulldog puppies in for their 8 week checkup! They are almost too big for the box that I carry them with...

Rutager....thanks for introducing us to "Gus". You are a saint to assist with these babies who need a little help. Thanks for inspiring us and please give Gus a little hug from me and the girls! ;)

rwest 08-05-2018 05:09 PM

I think Angela is the saint, puppies can be a handful!

Gus is actually functioning at a higher level than Tundra was; Gus voids his bladder completely and by himself- I just change his pad once he does. Tundra needed manual expression of his, which made him more susceptible to UTIs.

He can’t control when he goes potty, but it happens on its own.

I’ll be taking him on weekends for at least a month as they try and find a new home for him.

Rescued this dude from a farm in Latin America while on vacation - owner could not afford to feed him anymore and begged us to take him:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534800264.JPG

30 days shots/quarantine later, here he is....
Supposedly a 4-5 y old but in reality more like 7-8 in my book. Slightly bum rear leg (must have been past accident and no care). Day #1 he was "at home" and super sweet to the kids... Very chill...

His only weirdness is he'd never seen a car before, and he freaking *loves* them - open a car door anywhere within sight, any door, any car (not necessarily ours) and he will run into it... Even if people are seated there (as our visiting friends in an old boxster found out)..... Too funny...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534800677.JPG

Now we gotta retrain him to take commands in english - although the kid's spanish has improved markedly ;-)
