Vin, how tall is Bodhi?
We will be looking at another Heeler in the next few years. Just curious. Beautiful dog, btw. |
Thanks Paul! Bodhi is about 21-22in at the shoulders. Hes 62lbs now. Got a little hefty... :D
His brother Sydney, that we recently lost was about 24in. He was a big boy! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1658953551.jpg |

Dottie is 70lbs and very long. She'll need a playmate that can run with her and I want another Heeler because D is smart and so is the average Heeler. |

Our male dachshund is a hunter. He seems convinced we don't ever feed him enough. He has eliminated all the bison, and deer, and chased off all the wolves, polar bears and alligators and other predictors from our back yard, we just never see them anymore.
He is convinced the worlds best snack is a cicada. He loves them. In the evenings he goes out on patrol, nose to the grass smelling for emerging cicadas. I guess he likes cicada veal the most. He can smell them still underground. Now our back yard lookes like a small meteor shower hit with craters just a little bit smaller than the Arizona Meteor crater near I-40. He gets a scent, and his digging instincts kick in. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660152803.jpg He came in with his feet looking like this last night. His chest was covered in mud as well. Mrs. Carrera just takes him outside, and uses water from the rain barrel to wash his feet and chest. The rain barrel is only partially in the shade, so it is pretty warm. He just stands there and accepts the cleanup. Any animal in the back yard is game as far as he is concerned. He finally learned last year toads are not worth messing with. For a few years I was afraid he was a addicted to toad sucking. He was often frothing at the mouth. Anything else is game. So far this year only one bunny, and mouse are the most recent causalities. |

They often bring us little troubles here and there but with the Pet express it is always very easy to sort those out. Last time it was about a month ago when our youngest cat decided to bring home fleas. |

Looks like puppies first day of school and years later picked up drunk at a high school party.

Given that it's (Inter)national Dog Day today....

It is a really good thing our dogs are not spoiled! This is Reuben, he had his supper a couple of hours ago, played a while, then hunted in the back yard for any rodents and tasty bugs. We have the AC running and the couch gets direct air from the ceiling AC vents. Reuben is as cold natured as possible for a dog with hair. My wife had some scrap yarn so she knitted him a little blanket. So on the couch under his custom made hand knitted blanket, with his head resting on the other dog blanket. You can see his box of toys in a box on the floor. Yep, he ain't spoiled at all. |

Reuben is just 10, and very active and healthy. He is pure hound dog, and loves to hunt for cicadas. A cicada is his favorite treat, he loves to hunt for them emerging from the ground. If I find one in the front yard and it is near death and not flying I will call him over and he hits is like it is the best treat ever.
In the early summer as the cicadas are stirring, he will walk around in the back yard, nose to the ground and smell one about to emerge. He will dig down a little and yank it from the ground. It gets to look like I had a small meteor storm. Just like the Arizona crater, on a few inches across. We fill it back up, and the Bermuda grass comes back fast. Crickets and June bugs are treat as well. |

He looks like a rascal!

I know. He's a character. Got him when he was 4. Spent the first 4 years in a kennel  He knew NOTHING when I got him. Didn't know how to walk on a leash, didn't know toys, didn't know his name or any commands for that matter. Took a year or so to show him how to relax and have fun. He loves being around people.
Capt Ahab: those pics are hilarious! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662215638.jpg |
The most interesting dog in the world.

Due to a heart murmur, vet says to limit 14 year old Teddy’s exercise. But he insists on going when we walk the others. Went for his first walk in a stroller and loved it. Sat still, looked around, sniffed the air...and was taller than the St. Bernard he bosses around.
