YP - sorry to hear about your dog. We've been thru this 4 times now and it seems to get harder, not easier. 17 years was a great run though!

Our Schnauzer Smokey is 12 and just got diagnosed with a heart valve problem. He was having coughing spells that lasted 5 minutes sometimes. X-ray showed his heart has enlarged and was pushing on his wind pipe when he laid a certain way. The Doc prescribed Vetmedin and Lasixs and within 2 days the coughing was gone and his appetite and activity level were way up! The downside? The 10mg pills cost $3.60 each from the vet and he gets 1 per day and he's on them the rest of his life. Searched on-line for hours and cannot find anyone who actually has Vetmedin in stock. They list it for around $2/pill but have none to ship.

Update on Dante. He's the 4-year old Mini Schnauzer we adopted last January or so. At that time, he knew no commands and did not know how to walk on a leash. He was very shy, with no interest in toys, squirrels, treats, did not like car rides, etc. Well, he has completely come out of his shell and is now the local squirrel Nazi, tears his toys apart, love treats and car rides. His one quirk is walking on the leash. When I taught him, he was always on the left and Smokey was on the right. So now, he has to ALWAYS be on the left of everybody else when walking. No matter what. It's hilarious.

I use this place- I'm sure you've checked with them, but just in case. They will bombard you with discount emails.

There once was a good dog.

Who lost his way and got mixed up with a bad cat.

The cat quickly became boss, and taught him all his bad manners.

Eventually the cat took over everything.

The end.

Louise, 2AM, on my pillow (of course). Every night I have to negotiate for space on the bed. It's amazing how much space a 23-pound corgi can occupy.

Is this thread working again? Up until like yesterday, you could not post to it, the last few pages disappeared, and it looked like there were a number of pages you could not even look at.
