I like these Boker "Beer Barrel" knives with the handle made from a German beer barrel. A.G. Russell Knives | Böker® Beer Barrel Folder Series

I have my FIL's Kbar from 1942. It holds an edge better than any other blade I have. I can sharpen a chisel well enough to make your eyes bleed from too close a glance but knives have always defeated me. The handle & sheath were badly shrunken so I treated them with Tanner's Preserve that I bought 15 years back for 82 9eleben......the car is long gone but the Tanner's worked great. The leather swolt(?) right back up.

not all Bucks are made in the USA. Check the blade. The less expensive line is Chinese made.

Love my benchmades, made in Oregon. High quality parts and manufacturing as far as I can tell. They hold an edge really well.

Apparently Ka Bar does have some knives with their name on them made in China:

"Just because a knive was made in China does not make it a inferior knife, lets face it, the Chinese people work cheaper than we in America do , thus a cheaper product can be produced. The quality of the knife is what you need to look at, not where it was manufactured, some top knife makers like KaBar farm out some of their knives to China, the 1302 is a good example , it is very high quality, well made product, KaBar would not put their name on it if it was not, the 1302 is inexpencive, that is why it is so popular, quality and price. There are some examples of low quality coming from China, but that is true of any country, some folks belive the old saying you get what you pay for, but I think you get what you ask for. Demand a quality product and someone will produce it. KaBar found a way to do this with the 1302, other knife makers have done this also, by opening new lines of knives that are totaly made in China, but made up to their standards, so are we just buying a name? Not really, the name brand knives which are manufactured in China are of a good quality, I would not be afraid to purchace them at all."

I have a knife holder full of Cucto. I bought a few from the HS kids selling them and bought most of them on ebay. Some here will snub them because they aren't German, but they hold an edge and balance well. Free lifetime sharpening and guarantee if they ever break, and they don't care if you are the original owner.

The meat cleaver is sick in its handling and balance and cutting ability. You definitely want to cleave a chicken with one hand in your pocket.

Gerber is made in USA, isn't it. I think Case is, too. I liked the pic of the Tree Brands. They are hard to find now it seems. The Soligen ones used to be the best.

What happened to Queen? I don't see them anymore.

Boker Tree Brand's... the automatics are jewels and were a common find in Germany. Years ago was normal carry-on from across the pond. I gave most away as token gifts on return to the states but now sort of regret considering how difficult it is getting them and price.

One of my faves, handmade with genuine stag grip-

First I've heard of that flick... looks interesting and will do.

Knife: Appears to have the same action and release / lock but not sure of the make.

Here's another little automatic with a similar action. A handmade fave from Germany. Damascus blade and birds-eye maple grip.
