Look 171 is right. If something goes wrong and the parts aren't in the states you might have a 3 month wait while your "paperweight" just sits there,

As far as a commercial stove the lack the insulation that a residential stove has and I was told that they aren't to code for home use.

I'm reading up on ranges too, good timing. Looking for a 36-48" range to run on propane. The Wolf R486G looks great w/ 2 ovens, but $$$. Ouch. Curious on burner configuration. I'm thinking 6 burners with a griddle. Never had a build in griddle before, PITA to clean? Useful?

Seems no matter what brand I read about there horror stories and diehard fans. Sure would like to save some $$ though.

Thanks

Mine is a 6 burner and griddle. I'm not using the griddle all that much and yes it's hard to clean. I'm nervous about liguids or eggs running down into the seams.

For cleaning the ciiking surface I've found VODKA works the best.

If you live in a major metro area you should have no problem in getting parts for an Aga. My only problem with them is I like to see what I'm cooking without oopening the door.

Wolfs are incredibly easy to clean. Everything comes apart. It truly is worth every penny IMO. When we redo the kitchen the only thing I would consider instead is a Blue Star. Also totally agree about the Miele dishwasher. 20 year old one is dead silent and works like a charm.

For those of you who've never heard of Blue Star you can build your own:

I think Aga's are beautiful and from what I've heard those that have them swear by them but they just aren't what I want in a range.

If you really want top end there are other french ranges though:

French Ranges - Lacanche Stoves

La Cornue · Artisan manufacturer of exceptional kitchen ranges

How much do you want to spend?? You can spend upwards of $40K on a range if you like. A Wolf looks positively cheap by comparison.

One of the houses we visited in England had an AGA range/cooktop.
I had never seen one before. Very solid and well insulated but most people have a second oven stove for use in the summer and shut down the AGA until fall.
I would have liked to have seen it operate.
My wife's aunt hated it when they moved into their house but now wouldn't be with out it.

Jim what are looking for? Maybe I can help if you are interested stoves that may have damages like scratches in the back of side of the unit from the factory or delivery. Sometime I am able to save people up to 2k on a unit. Depends on what you are looking for.

No commercial stoves or burners in residential application. Not to code. the run too hot and most have not enough gas to run them. Insurance will not pay you a dime if your house caught fire.

DO NOT BUY a Kitchen Aid Superba Fridge. We bought a counter-depth unit in 2006 and it has been the single WORST appliance I have ever owned; if we hadn't purchased the extended warranty it would have cost us over $7500 so far, having had to replace the freezer door twice and the ice maker alone a third time.

Am now looking at SZ units- they are quite reliable based on family experiences.
