Yep, how long does it take to charge a set of wheels?

It never ceased to amuse/amaze me how someone will post pics of the latest million dollar super car... and like clockwork someone has to post "don't like the wheels"

Some other Foose work:

Is this a tweaked prowler?

No, but it answers the question nobody asked.

More images here;
Chip Foose - Hemisfear

This is the car which I think represents his model of thinking best. The car asks a question, but it's not a conventional question. And maybe some people love that, good for them. The world would be a lesser place without people like Foose. I'd rather encourage experimentation than to discourage it.

"I don't know much about art... but I know what I like..."

If I had the coin (not likely to happen in my lifetime) I would have Foose build me a little roadster like that, I like the Mercury sleds he builds too.

Sigh... "if I were a rich man"

I wouldn't want my early 944 to undergo that treatment, but I'd be fine with the parts car coming back in running order and looking nice.

In short, no, not on any 911 I would own. Not even a Cayenne.
Be fun to see him two-tone and bling out a Panamera.

Fuzzy dice and all that jazz. Angora carpets. You've been Foosed.

i only watched one or two episodes but i recall he did a job on a cuba or challenger, early 70s and it looked good, it actually looked like a new one. i persoanlly would have preferred it stock but it wasn't over the top.

Nope, 911s don't look good when painted with over-the-top gawdy color schemes and rollin on 24" dubs.
I also have absolutely no desire to fill up a car with 200 pounds of speakers and stereo equipment so I can go boom boom boom and pretend I'm a low-life ghetto thug.

Chip's problem is, it's been done. to death.
He thinks has to try and come up with something new and outdo himself with every project, so he goes over the top until it looks like ass.
He needs to get back to subtle quality, traditional good looks, and away from the wild colors that don't compliment each other.

this is a good discussion,
from some here it seems to me that the skill of this man is clearly being overlooked.
Chip is a true craftsman, this experience was gotten from working in his dads shop ,
with hands on true experience.

This man represents a dying breed in our age of entitlement.

Though most of us are brought to this site because we have a common bond of owning a certain brand or model of a machine ,

I will say this, most here would fall far short of any bit of creativity compared to CF,
myself included.

So yes maybe you have a hood badge that makes you think you have finally made it,
this almost sounds snobbish.

I think its time consider the mark of a true craftsman.

Could he overhaul my show car, sure bring it on!
I would love to see his ideas.

I would let them have a go at it. But, it would have to be a graphic-less monochrome paint job, single stage no metal flake. Pull the wheels and sound system when you get the car and put them on ebay.

How can they do a car in just 5 days?? It's taking me three years to get where I am.

Surely would let him have a stab at it as I appreciate and respect his talents. There's more than a few of his builds I really like, not all but he does start with questioning ones likes or dislikes. Many of his projects, indeed are NOT over done but expanded upon by cleaning up a factories cluttered lines, DOT tack-on's, etc.

I also think the closed minded are missing the idea. How many of you have drooled over some of the Porsche concepts, whether on the drawing board or in the skin? Nuff' said.

I think this is a great example of differing taste. We have a yearly Darryl Starbird car show here in Wichita, I don't even bother because I think the crazy over the top hot rod thing is dumb. I admire the craftsmanship, but think that any car that you can't drive is pointless. Lots of people love his stuff. Different strokes, different folks.

When I start my '70 Mustang I'll be taking an approach that many probably won't agree with. Upgraded suspension with modern components and a lower ride height, Bullitt style wheels with modern rubber, upgraded brakes, etc. I had a lot of feedback to keep it original, but I don't care because it's mine. That's really how I see the Foose cars, so long as they are a reflection of their owner's wishes, I'm good with it.

^^^ Matt- I agree, and some retro-rods are really remarkable modern day drivers that smoke the original. The crate motors, suspension, brakes, etc. today are miles ahead of the old stuff. I like the old Fords and thinking of doing a sled Ford wagon, retro-rod. Maybe even turbo diesel.

The first car Chip Foose ever painted was a 356. When he was 12...

Not seeingthe "angora carpet fuzzy dice" thing here. Not seeing it with this group of cars either - mostly VW's (a few other things) that Chip has built:

chip foose volkswagen - Google Search

Different builds for different purposes. Alot of very, very nice work comes from his shop. When you see something that a builder makes that you DON'T like, remember that a customer is sometimes involved. Heard the saying "there's an ass for every seat?"

Sometimes customers want something done to a car that you don't like. Doesn't mean the builder is bad, it means the customer has different taste than you. We see this in the 911 world right now. Fifteen years ago, we were cutting up long hoods to make them into impact bumper cars. Now the trend has moved the other way and SC's & Carrerra's are being "retro-modded" to look like long hood cars.

Foose is a very talented guy. No company can do a top quality job in one week. If it was possible body shops would do it.

My 911 is perfect now as a very stock 85 Carrera with 15 inch Fuchs. I would never want it Foosed. I would let him do my El Camino as long as I have 100% veto power. The two 3.5 inch speakers in the dash are plenty. If his shop took the time as in months to do it right and I could keep him from crazy changes sure. I would be very upset if they stole my El Camino for a week and did a typical one week job with a 500 or 600 HP engine 24 inch wheels and crazy stereo and TV sets and 200 lbs of speakers.

My car really doesn't need restoration, but I'd give it up for an overhaul if it would include significant power increase.

Not sure if he could top the Fikse FM10.

I'd gladly give mine to Singer to overhaul, Foose not so much.

That bus is classy.
Some are borderline "ghettolicious" (in line with the trends) but most of his modern conversions are works of art.
