They will be back in a few weeks/months after the insurance replaces it.

Love it when this happens. Just rewards.

Copper theft is a high potential career if you keep your skills current. But you need to be well connected in order to climb to the top.

I'm shocked that you post that, and resist your ideas. I refuse to be a conduit for your poorly grounded thoughts.

My ex said the streetlamps are out on her street - someone stole the wiring. She asked me to teach her how to shoot.

Bright ideas, but you're all using circular logic.
Listen to feedback from others. Connect with the solution. Go with the flow man.

Built some unfinished light office buildings with the service line coiled up from the meter can to the attic inside. Thieves cut the copper as high as they could reach.

Replaced it and it was stolen again a week later.

Worked out a deal with the city to let me not install the line until later after that.

Some thieves successfully stole all the wiring out of a wind turbine near my home town one night last year.... That one still perplexes me...

I see how some might get a charge out of this since it's a current trend and all but there's little potential for real positive long-term advancement since you'll likely encounter resistance.

In Oregon, we do have to show ID for copper scrap. The checks are then mailed to the address on the driver's license. We also charge the theives who are caught with the cost of the damage they did, not just the cost of the copper they stold.

One price for copper with the insulation on it, a higher price if it is stripped. We let our son strip it and the difference in the price is his. The key to stripping is a propane weed burner. Get the insulation very warm to hot and it comes off much easier.

There is actually 3 prices for copper (3 for aluminum and 3 for brass).

Here is a real cheap way to strip wire : Stripping copper wire cheap and easy - YouTube Different size holes for different size wire.

Another. Drill different size holes in a piece of steel and weld blades to it. HOMEMADE SUPER SIMPLE WIRE STRIPPER, Copper cable stripper - YouTube

This is a safer design, but you get the idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2o8Drsfpmu8&feature=related

Years ago when prices were really high I went out to "open" the cottage for the summer to find out someone had cut out all the plumbing??? Sure seems like a bunch of work for your return!!! I hope they don't come steal all that fancy PEX plumbing under there now!!! (Actually...I kept the 911, she got the cottage so why do I care anymore!! )

You know, another issue against wind power.

Shoot several of the people stealing wiring from these and prop the body up against the tower... people will get the message.

Did you try explaining to her that you can shoot them OUT, but you can't shoot them ON?
