A 308, I'd do the break in procedure with that. As to whether or not it works or what ever the debate is I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and do it.

New barrels have tooling marks in the bore and a break-in is required to get the smoothest possible bore for accuracy sake. Granted, this is a production barrel and may not have the tighter tolerances of a match barrel, but a break-in is really the way to go.

Like what was said, clean the bore after every 5 rounds until 50, then after every 10 rounds until 100. Use Sweets 7.62 to get every bit of copper fowling from the grooves/lands until the patch pushed through the bore comes out completely clean.

And of course I assume you know to NEVER clean a rifle bore from the muzzle end but rather from the chamber end. Some rifles like the M1 and M1A you cannot do this, and there are guides offered for these rifles to minimize any damage to the crown. If you ding the crown during cleaning, it can cause accuracy to fall off.

This product has worked great when I broke-in my match barrel on my competition AR.

Star 9mm Para Model B with Waffenamt proof (WaA251).
The name of the officer it was issued to is written in the lid.
As far as I can tell, unfired. I'm not a fan of Nazi **** but she is sweet.
I have a Norwegian 1914 as well but not because the Nazis made it.

I'm pretty sure if you're going to own a German issue Star, you should also have the holster......

Somewhat.

It started life as a Gewehr 98, was converted to a K98 at some point, and then re-barreled to 7.62 Nato by the Israelis. It has a mix of Imperial, pre Nazi German Nazi, and IDF marks.

Kind of a sexy old Savage 1907 (Art Deco) in 380ACP. Rumor has it that Dillinger was carrying one of these when he was killed.

Although it's not a bulls-eye pistol, it shoots well and fits even my club-like hand.
I have a pension for old things that work like they were new. I can't think of even one plastic pistola I would rather own......Well maybe an FN 57.

I guess the next step is chrome.......ha ha ha ha

Mj and I have collected Art Deco for 30+ years. You don't see these pistol very much any more. Yeah bright chrome would be perfect. I'm heading over to the shop later to pick up the Mark X and the wood you sent.. NEW BENCH THREAD COMING SOON.

Teri and I were big collectors of Erte', so Art Deco was always been an influence in our appreciation of the world around us.

The Mark X is no scuff and buff project. I look forward to watching you do your magic.
