Yet another single action in .45 Colt. This one is an Interarms Virginian Dragoon. These were manufactured in Alexandria, Virginia in the mid '70's through the mid '80's as a competitor to the Ruger single action. In my opinion, the Virginian Dragoon is a superior gun in every respect. I have three of them; one in .357 mag, one .44 mag, and this .45 Colt. I use this one for my monster 300 grain / 1,300 fps loads. It handles them with aplomb, and does a far better job than the Rugers of dealing with the heavy recoil of that load. The grips are the key - much bigger than the Blackhawk, but smaller than the Bisely. They really work well.

Today's project is to build a double stack STI 2011 with both 9mm and 45 Cal slides.
The challenge was to fit two different slides to the same frame keeping in mind that I'm not a gunsmith. After sanding and lapping they both feel smooth a glass. The reflex sight fitted to the 9mm . Machining the grooves for the Reflex sight was a real challenge. 15 and 26 9mm round mags fit the frame. The 45 slide came with dove tail grooves fore and aft to fit Bomar white dot sights. With 45 rounds, the mags hold 10 or 15 rounds. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398723342.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398723391.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398723485.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398723656.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398723600.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398725149.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398724432.jpg When doing a project like this, it helps to have a tackle box of shiny lures. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398724502.jpg |

New Colt in the herd...........
Just added this one. A Colt Lightning rifle (small frame) in .22 cal. It will load and shoot both .22 shorts and .22 longs but not .22 long rifle (action is too short). It was restored about 35 - 40 years ago, reblued and the barrel relined. The guy that I got it from said that the gentleman he bought it from had the work done by Doug Turnbull. No proof, but the quality of the work is certainly up to his standards! Some pictures. Oh, yes, made in 1900 so it is 114 years old!
