The gun culture... culture of violence thread reminded me I haven't shown you pics of my beautiful model 36 snubbie with it's new grips. They are one of those ones on eBay where they are only about $40 and free shipping from Thailand. Well, they arrived nine days later, perfect fit and I believe look great.

Thanks Peter. I'm more used to shooting .38 Special through a big N frame S&W, and tended to think of them as pop gun loads. So when I first fired this tiny thing I got quite a surprise . Big recoil and large bang. It felt more like shooting a hot 9mm not having much weight to it.

5.56....300blk is still to scarce for my taste

Accuracy is fine (I can hit man size at 250yds).

Noveske barrel, PSA rceivers, SMI cerakote bcg, troy mrf-c rail, h2 buffer

I have a shorty (7.5") 5.56 too. It's a fun range toy. Accuracy is not the problem - terminal performance of a bullet traveling well under its designed velocity is.

Not to mention the insane muzzle blast.

.300BLK is quite available if you're willing to buy over the IntarWebz:

GunBot 300blackout rifle ammo

Mine is 7.5 as well. 55gr loses a good bit of its punch but 62gr ap and 75gr bthp both seem to hit pretty hard.
The noveske kx3/5 do incredible things for muzzle blast, one is definitely my next purchase

Ah, the flaming pig.

Careful if you ever choose to suppress your 7.5" - I have a buddy that blew up a can because it wasn't "rated" for barrels under 9". He has bad luck with cans in general though.

My next shorty will definitely be a .300 BLK. After quite a bit of research I'm sold on the round - velocity loss from a 16" barrel vs a 9" barrel is almost negligible.

Yeah, 300 really does seem to favor the short barrel. IF it ever becomes a bit more common, I'll probably end up with a 8.2" 300 from noveske.

Yeah, a suppressor is probably in the works, though I'll probably do a .30 suppressor with an adaptor to keep my options open. There are a couple out there rated to 7.5"

Also keep in mind that if you reload, converting 5.56 brass to .300BLK is pretty easy.

If I reloaded, I'd already be shooting 300!

But, when I can get cheap practice ammo for .22/rd in .223, it's pretty hard to talk myself into tripling that cost for practice ammo...

I see you're a chicken like me. Actually I've had to start reloading for .45-70. Just can't get the load my rifle likes from a commercial maker. I only do a single stage press, though. Low output but little chance for screwups that way.

SWEET! I love 1911's! It's about time for me to rescue one from a pawn shop and rebuild it again.

Yeah, I have a major 1911 problem. I should probably photograph all of them, but I've gotten lazy.

The closest I have right now is my P938.
It's an awesome carry weapon, but I miss having a 1911. Plus, you can get decent capacity mags for a 1911.

Nice 1911's! I also love them but currently only have one and it's just an old 1911.
