P7s are available on GunBroker etc, but four figures . . .

In January I’ll be joining the biggest gun club in the area, with all the facilities. I’m thinking I’ll want a “practical pistol” for those sorts of games.

Yes.

Its former possessor and how it was obtained make it a C&R firearm. However it is still a post-86 MG so it would need to transfer on a form-5 or -10 so no non-military, non-leo, or non-museum ownership.

Yup. Its a Glock 18C - built by Glock to fire 20 rounds per second in full auto mode. Totally worthless since accuracy goes out the window. Just spray and pray.

It was presented to President Bush.

Full auto pistols are a fascinating micro-niche of spoon. So cool, and so useless. The only ones that seem even theoretically useful are the stocked ones (C96 Schnellfeuer, VP70, etc) and in practice they aren’t actually (useful). I think you need more than a stock, you also need a slow rate of fire and a smaller caliber. Something like the Czech Skorpion.

Oof That's a pistol!

The PSPs and M8s are expensive, but the oddball stuff like the .40 cals and .380 with factory nickel or hard chrome finishes go for crazy money here. I've seen one locally for $17k.

I think I’d look for a PSP. Don’t want more bulk, don’t need high-cap or heat shield.

Yeah because they are so rare .. if they were really available in good numbers, those prices would be lower.

pray you hold it well enough so it don't rotate and shoot yourself in the nogging.

Yup. The 18C is not legal unless you have special permits for full auto weapons and I can't imagine something that rare being shot just for grins. There is probably someone out there that does - good for them.

I went to the shop yesterday to buy some pigeon decoys...
Saw a promo on this, 30% off.
Forgot all about the decoys and impuls-bought this Browning X bolt SF in .243win. (lefty of course)

I have to go back to get the decoys now....

Very nice... is the X bolt the straight-pull model? What ya gonna scope it with?

Geronimo '74 10-12-2023 08:16 AM

Not the straight pull model. I believe that’s the Maral, higher end than the X-bolt.

I have a Burris scope on my Tikka, which I’ll mount on the browning.
Looking to buy a new scope for the Tikka for when I go to the range to practice longer shots. Ballistic turrets are a requirement.
I need a decent scope but not looking to spend several thousands. Suggestions are welcome.
I am planning to buy some more higher end shotguns and my budget is not unlimited..
First world problems, I know…

PS, I did get the decoys I forgot yesterday :-)

On the real inexpensive end I'd look at the Mueller 8-32x44 w/ either target dot or mildot reticle. Target turrets w/ stop and references, side focus. Lifetime warranty if you keep your receipt. Add a set of Burris rings w/ the inserts and your mounts/rail of choice.

I have one on my dirt cheap sub-MOA savage 223 rig and love it. Are there better scopes? Yup. But you are gonna have to spend 2-3x the cost of the Mueller to find 'em.

911boost 10-12-2023 09:41 PM

I’ve got a Mueller on an older (2003 or so) Rock River heavy barrel AR and have been happy with its performance.

On the other end of the spectrum I have a few Nightforce scopes (SCAR and Barrett) and they are really nice and sturdy but overkill for what you want.

recent additions:

- the indentical pair on the left. Successive serial numbers, from 1946 according to the stamps in the barrels. (they have been restored, not new old stock or anything)

- the second one from the right, another B25 fully engraved, comes with a second set of barrels.
