My son is getting one of those for Christmas! And when I say my son I really mean me.

I don't think CZ offered any slide mounted decockers - at least, when I was looking for one. Got a 75bd w/ frame mounted decocker.

My TA-90 - a Italian 75 clone - had a slide mounted decocker like that.

I know there were a few others at the time - Springfield and IMI/Jerico - that offered decocker instead of safety, but I think only the Tanfoglio were slide mounted.

That also leaves the possibility of a S&W.... I know they did a split design deal with CZ that produced the P40 and I forget teh S&W model number....

Nope - it isn’t a CZ. But you are on the right track, geographically speaking...

It is a Hungarian made FÈG P9R.
P = Pisztoly = pistol
9 = 9mm Parabellum
R = Rendőr = Police.

It was a government issue sidearm for the Police.

A bit of history: FEG - Fegyver- és Gépgyártó Részvénytársaság - Firearms and machinery Corp. produced an exact duplicate of the Browning High-power without their permission. Upon getting the cease and desist order from Browning, FEG made some modifications to the action (double & single action), added a safety / decocker, and continued to produce the spoon with no further lawsuit threats from Browning.

A bit of personal history: my father was a professor at a Hungarian boarding school during the height of the communist regime. He was also studying to be a man of the cloth. Before each meal, my father would stop and pray with his students. He was advised not to continue that practice. He refused, and was arrested not once, but twice. Upon his second release, he was stripped of his teaching certificate and forced to work at FEG, producing firearms for the Hungarian and Russian soldiers and police.

But that didn’t stop my father. He completed his theology degree and became an ordained minister, and continued preaching into his late 90’s. He passed his 100th birthday this past March 9th, and left the shackles of this earth less than a month later. Even this past February, he was still giving short prayers before meals for the residents in his nursing home a couple of miles from me. He didn’t let the communists win....

(Yes - I miss him dearly...)

I have a Sig 220 in 45 ACP and a Sig 320 compact in 9mm. I really like both of them! I've had the 220 for over 35 years and would not even think of getting rid of it!

The S&W that grew up

Just added this bad boy, a Smith 28-2 that has been converted to use 45 ACP w/full moon clips. Conversion done by replacing the barrel and cylinder with ones from a Smith model 25!

After shooting a friend of mines, I gave myself a used Beretta 92D (double action only) for my birthday.

No safety and just like a revolver, you can have a round in the pipe safely.

Shocking, I got a holster for Christmas!!!

I got it with that barrel as good as new..I think it must have gone to arsenal and never used a second run during WW2

I used it for mostly 600 yds shooting in UK, and once shot it to 900 yds (past the elevation range with holdover), prone, sling, no support and was in the black for 10 shots with 4 V bulls..

At 600 yds laying next to a friend shooting scoped 6.5 mm AI rifle.. He'de be shooting Vbull after Vbull.. and I would just circle around his shots with iron sights and just my sling..

It had a great trigger and clearly the WW2 barrels were very good

That's not the sling i used , had a 1907 newly made by Moore Leather in UK, made to be period correct
That's the only rifle i regret selling

This will be the next rifle that I will buy

I don't know if it would be appropriate for a coyote but I shot lots of rabbits/hares and one big arse snake with mine (Mostly at ranges of less than 3 meters 10 - feet) Eventually this gun was handed in and destroyed along with the other rifles and shot guns I owned.

I remember when these were the gun to own back in the "naughties". Still a great pistol IMO.

Nice holster... Good hand stitching like that is becoming rare. Machine stitching has become the norm but it lacks character IMO.

What I don't get is that they actually turned those in.
in Belgium everybody had a garden gun, suddenly they made the law such that it required a permit... and the next day nobody had a garden gun.

They hadn't been destroyed, turned in, gotten registered, they simply "vanished".
I hear they are very good for roof insulation and what not.

If you see documentaries bout gold hunters or whatever in Australia, they all seem very rough around the edges.
Dashcam vids out of Oz seem to back that up.
But clearly they are eager to comply to draconian measures , and simply turn everything in upon simple request? odd.

There was a what I would describe as a "Generous Buy Back" as part of the law changes and a lot of people took advantage of that.
And just quietly I have it on good authority that not all of the guns were handed in.

I handed mine in because I didn't want to jump through the Gumbits hoops to keep them LEGALLY.

Here's a link to my state's guns laws if you're interested - Excellent reading if you're ever having issue sleeping...
You'll note that sling shots (home made and commercial) are now illegal to posses in South Australia. This is a recent addition.

any slingshot?
like a 12 year old making a Y fork out of a branch and a rubber band, illegal as well???!

note, we never got any buy backs, just hand em over and we'll destroy em for you.
Interstingly enough a lot of cops suddenly had large collections of historical arms.

the local rozzers in charge of permits even got caught for it.. and they are still the local rozzers in charge of the permits to this day.
