Back in the 70s, my dad had a book that I believe was titled "The Handgun Handbook". It was a large softback book full of pictures and articles. I remember there was at least one and probably several photos of engraved revolvers. I have been enamored ever since seeing them in that book.

I prefer ^those^ but this one isn't bad either. I like the matching touch on the grips

Nice coverage on the first two, third one is awful and looks like a quickly laser job.

Pryse patent revolver retailed by Rigby. .450 Boxer Caliber. Carried through wars and campaigns from 1879-1915 by a British officer who ended his career as a Brigadier General.

Early stevens single shot rifle in 38-35 Maynard caliber:

The 38-35 round:

Shooting styles and stances were a bit different back then, and relatively low recoiling rounds like this were acceptable with that crescent butt because it was held against the bicep just below the shoulder, instead of the shoulder itself. It's an awkward way to shoot at first, but after a while you get used to it. I still don't find it more accurate or comfortable though. Some of the old ways weren't better.

S&W 3rd model double action .38 with uncommon 6" barrel and rare target sights and stocks. All matching numbers. It's a shame someone mistreated the finish as it's still tight as it was when it left the factory in 1894:

So, 11 months ago I tried to purchase a 1903/A4.

The deal fell apart due to the shop made a mistake.

Today I blew my Gun buying budget for the year.

I have never had a problem with them and have bought a fair amount of stuff through them.

Notably in this auction of the stuff I book marked SW M 629 P&R 8 3/8 B went for 1700 wt buyer prem..about 2K. And a Colt 1911 pre 70 NM GC nib apx 4K...

JYL should be eating his hat..as to what the prices realized for that same spoon went for at REATA a coupla weeks ago.. I brought them to his attention.

Overall prices at Watson's auction were sizzling...
