What's there to justify? Ok, seriously how often does a Look frame like that one come around for sale that's your size? Is it brand new? Sure looks it. For the Gitane, there will be another if you look hard enough, but that Look in small size is a difficult one to locate. what would you build it up with? DA 9 speed?

Those 196s were interesting bikes, but were they not the ones that were notorious at the time for having the steerer snap?

That KG196 was a first for LOOK. Too rich for me, but would love it. Keep it French > Here's a full Mavic group and wheel package, ready to roll for $550!

Most of the teams put Shimano on those 196 TT bikes (and campy too). I know sponsorship had lots of say in that but have not seen too many with French running gears.

Not Mavic stem or QRs, but a very good deal for an otherwise "full Mavic" group. Mavic stuff was crazy expensive in the day and there was no good-better-best - they only made one product line and it was all top-flight. Mavic stuff gets a lot of looks today, pretty unusual and cool. I looked at LeMond's TdF and WC bikes when they were on display in NYC earlier this year, half were Mavic and half were Campy.

Read that as well but just to be different the Mavic group would be cool and interesting. Not all the pieces in that bundle for sale are needed (BB, stem, etc.) but could unload those bits and take the difference for a seat post and saddle. Did they use a CF seat post?

The KG posted has a 54cm tt. Thank goodness as if it was a 56, could feel the devil in me telling me to get it. Such a neat top end French bike with great collectability.

The KG196 was actually considered a road bike. The KG296 (which came in at least 3 different versions) was their TT bike.

For a retrogrouch like me, and as cool as that frame is, I'd spend my money on something 10 years older. Like some sort of Merckx Corsa Extra, a Raleigh Team Pro, Look KG86, or a titanium frame of some sort.

That's one ugly frame. wonder if that's all plastic for weight reduction? I have never seem Zulle in that thing but that doesn't means anything.

I have never had a Ti bike. One day I like to try it and see what all the fuzz is all about.

1983 Raleigh - US team pursuit

Ten of theses bikes were designed and fabricated by Mike Melton at the US Cycling Team Technical Development Center in Dayton, Ohio in May of 1983, and were specifically issued to each of the track pursuit riders. Later that summer in Caracas, Venezuela, South America they were ridden to a Gold Metal finish by the US Team Pursuit Squad of John Beckman, Brent Emory, Dave Grylls, Danny Van Haut, Steve Hegg, and Harvey Nitz.

Just sent out my Merlin to TI Cycles for headtube repair/replacement, upgrade BB shell, new decals and refinishing. 12-14 weeks. Campy Carbon Record 10 w/Campy Carbon Hyperion wheels and a Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork will complete the build for some great fall mileage!

There were 2 of these at a swap meet in Ann Arbor last month. Not for sale, the guy wants to restore them and is looking for parts. Mission Impossible IMO. It looks like everything about these were one-off custom stuff. He bought them at an auction in Dayton when they closed the Huffy factory.

what happened? Ti frames do not break, usually.
